1988 Chevrolet Corvette Z52 L98 5.7

Faults:

Oil pain has a minor leak.

Weather stripping needs to be replaced.

Lots of rattles...

Stereo is the Bose one, AVOID breaks and hard to replace.

General Comments:

Great car, I grew up beside someone who always had C4 and C3 Corvettes.

Summer 2019 I was looking at C3-4-5; after working on C3 and C4 I decided the C3 was out. I absolutely love the C3, but find the C4 more reliable and easier to work on. The C5 is great, would take one over the 4 on a longer drive, but less enjoyable on back roads IMHO.

I absolutely love it and will own it for quite a awhile. I do plan on picking up a C5 or 6 in the near future, but the cars drive very differently (I will keep both); I strongly recommend the C4, an absolutely awesome car.

Only 2 negative points:

1. Lots of rattles, mine has been a garage queen during its life and is low mileage for the year.

2. Awful Bose stereo should be avoided LOL.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

I had 2 C3s; I consider the chrome bumpers beautiful with the coke bottle shape. Surprised you didn’t love the C5 with all the added horsepower. Redesign frame up. And literally maintenance free other than Mobil 1 and filter and tires. In fact I liked that gen more than a C6. Most of the people I know are in clubs. Going later gens to do distant trips like to the Corvette Museum, Carlisle etc as a group. Many older Corvette’s see low annual miles so owners also pick up one newer. The C4s have electric issues, and engine issues as older cars. One piece hood, not a favorite with insurers like a C5. They do not ride as nice. The LS engine starting in 98 was a far better engine than the LT1.
