1994 Chevrolet Corvette 5.7 LT-1

Summary:

A sleek, fast, and affordable sports car

Faults:

None.

General Comments:

The car has very high door sills which makes it very difficult to get in and out.

The rear tires tend to hop over bumpy roads which makes the rear of the car skip sideways.

Now, on the positive side, the acceleration is very satisfying. Zero to sixty miles per hour takes about 5.2 seconds and the quarter mile goes by in about 13.6 seconds. The car has enough torque to enable you to pass in 6th gear. Wow!

1994 Chevrolet Corvette LT-1 Convertible 5.7 LT1

Summary:

Every person's childhood dream

Faults:

FX-3 Electronic Ride Control. The FX-3 system is a user adjustable control which allows for different dampening of the ride feel. After a year of ownership one of the adjustable shocks appears to be leaking. The car is still driveable without any problem.

Ignition wires leaking. Replaced the entire set with racing wires, but this is a 2-3 hour replacement job. The exhaust headers are within millimeters of the spark plug wires.

Even though I have been lucky, the Optispark system has been known to fail often and is very costly and labour intensive to repair.

General Comments:

This is a beautiful car which I've been able to make super fast via a supercharger kit and other upgrades.

Repairs are not very pricey (being a popular engine) and I find the Corvette much more economical and reliable than my old 300ZX Twin Turbo.

Gas mileage is not worthy of mentioning, but if you count your trips to the pump, then skip over buying a Corvette.

Car is gorgeous to look at and gets many looks from a variety of ages. The car appeals to those people that do not necessarily know a lot of the import sports cars. Women love the convertible option and it truly does give you a feeling of "sports car".

Interior is very tight for models previous to and including 1996. Foot pedals are close together and you easily can press the brake and gas during hard braking. As a positive point, the convertible also has a lot of headroom even with the top up.
