2003 Chevrolet Impala LS 3.8

Summary:

The best car I have ever owned!

Faults:

Breaks squealed when they got warm/hot. Dealership said it was because they are metallic pads. I replaces pads with carbon ones and put on slotted rotors, no more squealing.

Loud tire noise when driving down the highway.

General Comments:

Smooth comfortable ride.

Almost no wind noise.

Awesome sound system, especially with the satellite radio.

Love the front bucket seats, I have made several 1000 mile road trips and did not feel fatigued when I arrived at my destination.

Excellent gas mileage, am averaging 30-34 miles per gallon on the highway.

On Star has been so useful and always there when I needed it.

Probably gonna need it a lot with how much Chevy's break down.

2003 Chevrolet Impala Sedan 3.4

Summary:

Thinking I can get 8-9 years at 30,000 miles/year

Faults:

Nothing wrong so far. Had brakes inspected at 45,000 miles and was told that there was more than 50% on all 4. Hope to get 90,000 miles on my brakes. So far only replaced fuel filter at 45,000 miles.

Didn't know that I had a cabin air filter until I was told I needed a new on at 35,000 miles by the oil change shop.

General Comments:

I put in a K&N air filter at 15,000 miles and my MPG on a 900 mile drive to Denver increased to 33.5 MPG.

I actually purchased this car in November 2002 but it is a 2003 Model.

No anti-lock brakes and no aluminum rims so I can keep my maintenance costs lower.

I am hoping to do the S belt, brakes, tires, transmission flush, plugs and wires, alignment, and maybe radiator flush at 90,000-100,000 miles.

I shouldn't have bought that stupid GAP insurance that the salesman proposed before talking to my regular insurance agent. Another sales ripoff of $299.

You probably don't use your brakes often when driving 900 miles on highway. This would be impossible in NYC traffic. Any car who knows what traffic is would envy your Impala.

2003 Chevrolet Impala LS 3.8L

Summary:

Great car and worth the money

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong.

Scratches very easily, a disappointment since the primer is white and with a black topcoat, every imperfection shows.

Would not buy black again, constantly washing the car since black shows dirt almost immediately.

General Comments:

Great looking car and very comfortable.

Good performance and handling.

Great mileage with a large trunk and plenty of legroom.

OnStar worth the money.
