1991 Chevrolet Lumina Euro 3.1L

Summary:

Very reliable vehicle

Faults:

Alternator.

Water pump.

Starter.

Water hose.

Ignition control module.

General Comments:

I have had this car for 5 years and have obviously put quite a few miles on it. I have never had any real problems with the car until recently when the ICM had to be replaced. In fact I drove approximately 150,000 miles and the only thing I had to fix was a heater hose.

I have gone as much as 20,000 miles between oil changes and as of yet I do not burn or leak any oil and the engine is still very clean.

It has been a very reliable vehicle, probably the best car I've owned thus far (and I have owned plenty).

1991 Chevrolet Lumina Euro 3.1 V6

Summary:

Tempermental, unreliable, but a nice ride if you're willing to work on it

Faults:

Several alternators burnt out, rear brakes work intermittently, multiple oil and transmission fluid leaks, courtesy light electrical circuit short, "pops" during stops, engine surges on hills and between 20 and 35mph.

General Comments:

At first this vehicle seemed AWESOME, but after about six months it showed its true colors. Oil changes every 3000, fluids checked weekly, maintnance done as needed, but the thing is so unpredictable. One minute it runs great and you think it's the best car on the road, the next it has about ten new problems. I just don't understand this car.

I think you either got ripped off when you bought it, or you beat the hell out of it yourself, because I've never heard of a Lumina in that bad shape.

I own a 91 Chevy Euro Coupe, with an auto transmission. This car is at times a dream to drive, but eats gas and has developed many problems, the worst now being the transmission which will not shift into 3rd or 4th gear. The vinyl dash is warped and putting new spark plugs is very difficult.
