2001 Chevrolet Malibu 3.1L

Summary:

It is not worth your money, although they are very cheap low class economy cars

Faults:

The third week I got my car the front rotors had to be replaced.

It sounds like it's going to stall every morning when I start my car.

Windshield Wipers are horrible.

Air Conditioner/Heat doesn't work on 1,2,or 3.

Makes a thumping noise and I brought it to the shop, but they didn't find anything wrong with it.

General Comments:

This car picks up really fast, the steering is tight so it has better handling. The seats are very uncomfortable though. I would not recommend getting this car. It seems like Chevy did not take their time to make this car and it was very poorly made. I don't think I would own another Chevy again. As of right now, I am now selling my Chevy Malibu.

Replace the resistor and your 1,2, 3 will work again. have a shop do it, unless you like getting under the dash.

2001 Chevrolet Malibu

Summary:

The car has good power but other than that I think I was sold a lemon

Faults:

My head gasket blew at 37,000 right after the warranty ended.

I had the struts replaced twice.

My A/C resistor broke and it would only work on fan setting 3,4,or 5. (I ordered a new resistor and fixed it myself)

The car won't start most days. I took it to a garage and they said they did not see any problem with it. The car has stalled at least 20 times from that point(and it's only been a month from being serviced).

The drivers side arm rest creeks.

The car will rev up without touching the gas.

The car will reset itself. The clock the tripometer etc..

And lastly... the gas gauge won't work. It reads empty most days when it's full or it will stay on full and not move.

General Comments:

This car was a good car until it hit 33,000 (that means that I only put about 6,000 miles on it before things started to go.

I feel that it is not a reliable car-- I would have to get up 30 minutes earlier to make time just in case my car would not start.

2001 Chevrolet Malibu LS 3.1 V6

Faults:

I have a 2001 Malibu. It has been OK car so far. I have read some negative reviews on this car so was wondering whether to keep this car. I have leased this car and was thinking about purchasing since I have invested so much on this car and have low mileage (41000km).

I had to replace the front brake pads at 25000km and that cost me a lot. The dealer said this is not covered under warranty. Oh well so much for the warranty.

Turn signal stopped working at about 30000km. It was replaced under warranty.

The coolant seems to be getting low.

Now I am noticing wheel sound from the front end of the car specially when driving on highway or turning right. It gets louder on highway. Could this be something to be concerned about?

General Comments:

Can this car last 150000km trouble free? If anyone has any comments please share whether I should buy this car or return it. I am thinking to purchase 2001 Ford Taurus if I return it.

You have the change to walk away from this car??? You'd be a fool not to. I would also be hesitant to go with the used Taurus also. If you can, take some time and look around and see if you can't find a new car with a good warranty.

This is a good car, just take good care of it and it will be good to you. (drive it nicely)

Stick with Chevrolet!! Ford has a much worse reputation (just look at all the Ford reviews on this website).

2001 Chevrolet Malibu LS 3.1

Summary:

A good family car

Faults:

At 38000 miles front brake pads replaced and rotors resurfaced.

General Comments:

I have only owned this car a short time, I have worked on many like this one. When the front pads needed to be replace it was no big deal, because there are right was to do a brake job so it won't come back.
