2005 Chevrolet Malibu

Summary:

Great car

Faults:

The power steering locks up occasionally when it gets hot. It's electrical, so whenever I take it to the shop they can't see anything wrong unless it is currently locked up. It's still drivable when it does it, but you just have to really turn the steering wheel with all your might.

General Comments:

Good car, okay on mileage, I don't spoil it, but I do the minimum maintenance. It hasn't done me wrong the whole time I've had it, other than that power steering thing. It's a smooth ride, picks up speed quickly.

2005 Chevrolet Malibu LS V6

Summary:

Fabulous

Faults:

The remote doesn't work all the time.

The automated starter doesn't work at all.

General Comments:

All in all, I love my car. Rides good, great on gas. I would recommend anyone to buy a Malibu.

My car has a spoiler on the back, and looks very slick.

My son liked mine so well, he went and bought a 2007 LTZ V6. It is more sporty than mine.

I really don't have any bad thing to say about the car. Gets 35 to 37 MPG on the highway and 26MGM in town. A lot of compliments on this car.

I just hope I don't start having electrical problems like some of the comments I have read on.

Just had it a year. Paid a good price. I would buy another one.

Change the batteries in your remotes; you will notice it will work a lot better :)

The key fobs for Chevys fail, because the spring loaded clip that holds the battery, actually breaks the soldering that holds the battery assembly to the little circuit board inside. I have two Chevys, an 05 and an 08, and the exact same thing happened to all the keyfobs. This is like the only credible and useful knowledge I have about anything auto!

2005 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx LT V6 3.5 Liter V6

Summary:

Fabulous...period!

Faults:

I've had to replace the wiper blades (only because I do so whenever I buy a new car) and had to order the rear wiper from the dealer, but nothing has actually "gone wrong" (knock on wood). My only real complaint is that in order for the OnStar system to work, I have to pay $100 to upgrade to the digital system, as it has the analog system in it now.

General Comments:

I found my Malibu Maxx when I went the local Chevy dealership to look at an 06 Cobalt. I had a 2005 Ford Focus that was killing me to drive, and wanted something better. While glancing around the lot, I noticed the Maxx and took a look. It's fully loaded with Leather, Micro-suede inserts, 6 CD Changer, XM satellite radio, OnStar, Premium Sound, a DVD Player with 2 sets of wireless headphones, sunroof, and the list goes on. The price of the car was what really got me ($9950). After test driving the car, I was sold! The handling is terrific, and acceleration even better. I test drove the car during a really bad rainstorm, and took it on the Interstate. The traction control really makes a big difference. In the two weeks I've had the car, I've put about 1600 miles on it and am averaging 30 MPG city/hwy miles. The previous owners of the car bought it new at the same lot I got it from after trading it in for an 08 Malibu, and their loss is my complete gain!

Update: I've had this car for 5 months today, and have put over 15,000 miles on it. So far, nothing has gone wrong! It's sitting just over 111,000 miles and is still running strong. My gas mileage has stayed right around 30 on the freeway, and the overall maintenance costs are fairly low compared to other cars I've owned. I live in the Pacific Northwest and we are experiencing one of the coldest winters on record (it was 27 degrees(F) at 2pm today), and it just cruises right along. The seat warmers are really helpful, as is the remote start. Today was the first time I have driven it on ice or snow, and it did not slip once. I think this ones a definite keeper!
