1999 Chevrolet Metro 1.0 3 cylinder

Summary:

Smart buy

Faults:

Driver's side door lock got very stiff after 2 years (replaced mechanism by dealer under warranty).

General Comments:

Very economical car. Sure the hybrids from Japan or little diesels from Volkswagen can beat the Metro for MPG nowadays, but it is still much cheaper to run a simple, reliable gasoline engine.

It seemed like a rough engine the first time that I drove it, but I got used to it after a week.

Despite a tiny engine, I've gotten it up to 150 km/h on a good hill!

1999 Chevrolet Metro LSi

Summary:

A Good Gas Saver

Faults:

The a/c had a leak its been fixed up.

Just had to change the oil.

General Comments:

This car handles great even lowered with rims.

Its quick a little 1.3 auto until you get a full load.

Not very much passenger room, but enough room for the driver unless you 6'2" then it'll be small.

All in all it's a nice car nice seats and all.

Good gas mileage to especially for the way I drive I get 30 mpg so I like better than my old car 15 if I was lucky.

1999 Chevrolet Metro Coupe 1.0

Summary:

A good car for what it is designed to be

Faults:

AC system has failed to work first time I attempted to use it each spring. In 2000, the evaporator was replaced under warranty. In 2001, the condenser was replaced under warranty. I am waiting to see if it fails in 2002, but am still under warranty until August. Beside the AC issues, have not had any other problems at all.

General Comments:

This car is used solely to commute to work daily. My commute is 10 miles each way, between suburbs, two and four lane roads with maximum speed limit of 45 MPH. The Metro is perfect for this use, economical and reliable. I would not want to use this car however, if I had to do any highway driving. For family use we drive a 1995 Jeep Cherokee, the Metro is definitely not a family car, I am the only one who drives it. I am 6', 250 lb, and fit just fine. Overall it is a great metro (no pun intended) commuter.
