2014 Chevrolet Silverado LT 5.3L

Summary:

Great truck, great acceleration and ride, but I think a bit pricey for what you get

Faults:

CD player ejects disc randomly and won't let you put the disc in.

General Comments:

I traded a '13 Silverado in for the one I have now. To me, the '14 is the better truck, hands down. Nicer ride, tighter handling, and generally everything is an improvement over the prior model year. What I don't like, is the extended cab doors now. The previous model years let you open the door all the way out, giving you total access to the back seat. The new doors inhibit that.

The engine and drivetrain are smooth and I get way better gas mileage. Only thing is, the engine sounds like an old Dodge Slant 6, whose rocker arms were never adjusted!! Other than that, it's a great truck. I only ever keep them for 2 years max, then trade up, so I don't really know about long term reliability.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Slant-6 with badly-adjusted rocker arms - LOL!!!

Welcome to direct fuel injection ;)

You're right! It's the new high pressure pump that sound like a bad A/C compressor or a valve lash not adjusted, but not heard inside the truck... new from 2019 models have the pump more deeply inside the engine; 100% better, quiet and unheard from the outside. That's the price for the direct injection!!!

Usually if you trade in or sell outright, you escape problems.

Considering that the highest rate of depreciation occurs in the first several years, trading in for a new vehicle every two years makes very little sense financially. Apparently the reviewer is not familiar with leasing?
