1999 Chevrolet Tahoe LS 5.7L V8

Faults:

I just got this truck as my first car and it seems decent. There are a few annoying little problems it has.

The radio doesn't work sometimes, and sometimes it get interference or something when I turn left. I have no idea how that affects the radio, but it does.

Another thing is that the front door locks are no longer working with the power I have to lock and unlock them manually.

I haven't really drove it much, because of gas, but it gets approx. 10 city, 18 highway.

The interior is really roomy and comfortable, and it's still got some get up and go left in it, so I guess it's an alright car for now, but I'm definitely looking to get a new one soon; maybe an 06 GTO 6.0.

1999 Chevrolet Tahoe LT 5.7L

Summary:

The best vehicle I have ever owned!

Faults:

The first thing that went wrong with my Tahoe was the transmission. This was at about 109,000 miles. $1,700 in cost from the dealership. noting the mentioned amount of miles, this was no biggie to me.

Next was the alternator. Which at the time I was working at Auto-zone, so to say the least was not that pricey.

Then there was the rear end problem. Something got loose in my rear end and turned my gears into jigsaw puzzle pieces. That was fun. $1,450 in cost.

General Comments:

The 1999 Chevy Tahoe has been the best vehicle that I have ever owned! I have had good cars and bad cars.

When it came down to the repairs the Tahoe was costly but you get what you pay for.

The Tahoe is very roomy on the inside. And from I hear the newer models are just the same. If I had the money I would buy a newer one but this one IS paid off so I content.

Not so great on gas mileage but not horror-able.

1999 Chevrolet Tahoe LT 5.7

Summary:

Generally a good vehicle so far

Faults:

The sound on the radio doesn't work anymore. It cut in and out for a while now no longer works at all. Front U-Joint went out but not a costly repair.

General Comments:

It has been a good vehicle. Got me through a bad last winter with no problems. Just minor maintance which is expected on a vehicle of this age.

1999 Chevrolet Tahoe 350 Vortec 5.7

Summary:

The best purchase I have ever made Period!

Faults:

Turn signals stopped working on the way back from florida. burned the fuses and took the multifunction switch with it. Turns out its the dealers fault for not wiring up the trailer wiring harness correctly. After some arguing, they fixed it for what I initially paid.

Dealer put too small of a battery in it so this beast almost doesn't have enough power to start when its really cold. (Not the right CCA rating) Again, not the trucks (or GM's) fault. The dealer dropped the ball.

Fuel pump went first day I had it pulling my boat back from the lake. Dealer paid the whole bill... even towing. Deler believes this was defective from day one. You would not believe the power this rig has now! ;-)

General Comments:

Strong as an ox! There isn't a day that goes by that I don't regret buying this truck. The dealer needs to be hung from a tree and beaten with a shovel for going cheap on the repairs and service on this thing. Now that I go to a different dealer the truck is fine.

Rear seats fold completely flat.!

Leather seats are the most comfortable of any car I have ever had. I find myself paying the fuel bill willingly because its such a pleasure to drive.

More power than it knows what to do with... it took a lot of getting used to when the first snow came. This will spin all four tires with too much throttle. Plus it will hit the top of just anout any on ramp at 90-100 if you ask it too.

ABS stops this truck and any trailer cold.

It's a very big, very heavy truck that doesn't drive like one. Feels stable at all speeds and in all situations.

Transmission is brilliant... Knows right where its supposed to be at all times.

Will pull anything you chain to it (stumps, cars in the ditch, you name it)

I was expecting the horrid mileage I got with my 97 expedition (8-10) but this truck delivers 21 on the highway. It even gets 16 pulling my 3500 lb boat!
