1989 Chevrolet Truck 2.5 EFI

Summary:

Lots of power, but cheaply made

Faults:

It needed a new starter, which caused it to start slow.

The valve cover leaks oil.

The interior falls apart (cheap plastic)

Reverse grinds.

General Comments:

Very strong 2.5 liter engine. I can get rubber in first, second, and third, which is way more than expected with a four cylinder.

Goes through gas like a hog, probably the way I drive it.

Extremely uncomfortable in summer because the engine blows hot air inside even when you have the heat off.

First gear is geared too low.

Terrible in the winter.

Bad on the highway.

The handling is not very good, and not having power steering sucks.

Everything about the truck is cheaply made except what's under the hood.

This truck will blow the doors off any other truck.

It is a very good truck. I drove it back and forth from wisconsin to idaho numerous times, this is a very reliable truck!!!

1989 Chevrolet Truck C30 (1 ton) 454 V8

Faults:

Transmission problems (only been pulling a 3,000 lb trailer). Only has 50,000 miles so far.

General Comments:

Want a real truck get a Ford or Dodge. Going from Ford/Dodge Truck to Chevrolet Truck is like going from fine shrimp to a can of tuna. Built on a car frame & suspension! Sad power for a big-block V8. Bed is spot welded to frame. 1 ton Chevy is same as 3/4 ton Ford/Dodge, 3/4 ton Chevy is same as 1/2 ton Ford/Dodge & so on (I would hate to think about what an S10 could do). Okay for second car only.
