Leaks and burns a quart of oil every 1000 miles.

The suspension is extremely loose.

You are really lucky to own a 1979-81 Chrysler New York or any R-body car from those years, you definitely don't see very many of those cars around and they were better looking cars than the Ford's and GM of those years although I do like them, I've always been a big fan of the classic R-body cars and they are definitely one of the most obscure cars ever made, I wish you best of luck on your car and keep up the good work.

1982 Chrysler New Yorker 5.2L V8

Summary:

This Chrysler is a very well built car

Faults:

Has a bad oil leak (valve cover gaskets.)

Recently replaced front and rear shocks.

New alternator.

Power antenna needs to be replaced.

Seats are worn badly.

General Comments:

This car just won't quit on me. I'm very proud of the stock 318. With 352,164 miles, it still starts every day.

The interior is very nice leather, but they have started to tear.

The stereo is not that good with two front speakers blown and two rear speakers that are very worn, not to mention the worn out (not broken) rear amplifier speaker switch.

It was great review and it really something about how lost lasting Chrysler's 318 is!

The 318 in the '82 New Yorker is slow, yes; but is a powerful engine and can tow better than some trucks.
