2005 Chrysler Sebring Convertible

Summary:

Poor Design on defogger clip on rear window otherwise O.K

Faults:

Clips on rear window defogger are consistently popping off. Was welded back twice. First time it was covered against the guarantee. Second time, I had to pay for the labour $70.00.

Last year, I was told that I would have to replace the whole window. After several weeks of back and forth with the dealer and Chrysler head office, they finally agreed to cover the cost of the window.

Now, again I am faced with the clip popping off. This time the dealer refuses to weld or replace the window. I was told to go to a window specialist, and of course replace the window at my cost (approx $700.00).

Chrysler has refused to take responsibility, even though this is obviously a defect (poor design). I had previously owned a Sebring Convertible before (1997 model) and had the same issue. When I purchased this one, I was told by the dealer the design had changed and would not have this problem anymore. I wish I had gotten that in writing.

General Comments:

It's a good looking car, and rides very well. I love having this convertible, but because now the last 2 Chrysler convertible vehicles that I have owned, have had the same problems, and they fail to take responsibility, I'm afraid that this will be my last Chrysler. Too bad!!

2005 Chrysler Sebring Convertible Touring V6

Summary:

This is the best car I have ever owned

Faults:

The only real problem I have had with the car is that the trunk began leaking when it rained. I was pretty upset, but the dealer I purchased the car from was so great that they took it to the dodge dealership for me to be fixed. The car was still under bumper to bumper warranty with Chrysler. I purchased the car from Vestal Pontiac Buick GMC. On top of that, they gave me a courtesy car to drive for the weekend. I thought highly of this because I could just have easily taken it to Dodge myself, but they insisted on doing it for me. Other than that, nothing has gone wrong.

General Comments:

The seats are very comfortable. I love that it has leather and suede in the middle. It is very hot in the summer, but the suede helps to minimize the heat.

All the interior components work well. I like having the temperature reader on hot days, and the stereo is great.

The car has a lot of "get up and go." It is by far not a performance convertible like a Pontiac G6 or another sports car, but it is perfect for people like me who just want to have the convertible experience.

My biggest fear of having this car was that the top may leak. The top has been perfect with no problems. It closes securely and easily with an automatic button. It isn't too noisy on the highway and it is insulated so the heat and air stay in well.
