1976 Dodge Aspen Base 4 door sedan 225 slant six

Summary:

Good

Faults:

Serious rust issues in trunk wheel wells. Also the rear leaf spring shackle on the passenger side rusted off; was told it would be expensive to fix so I sold the vehicle.

General Comments:

Great car except for the rust problem. That 225 Slant Six was very reliable and bulletproof. The Torqueflite 904 transmission was excellent also.

Faults:

Great looking car!! the black with red. great paint job, but I didn't have the car for more than a month when reverse went out. of course they repaced it. but overall I didn't think other than looks that the car was up to par!! it did attract a lot of police on the highway though! lol.

1976 Dodge Aspen 318 V8

Summary:

In my opinion this is a hot classy/muscle car

Faults:

The only thing wrong with this car is a slight rip on the vinyl on the inside driver door.

It had the original rubber and rims so obviously replaced.

Tiny patches of rust on the body closest to the tires, hardly visable.

I dualed off the exhaust to make it louder and more "muscular"

General Comments:

I am 16 and and was looking for a nice muscle car for my first.

This car I found on an old lady who had hardly ever driven this Aspen which she bought new in 1976.

It had 25,000 original miles (wow) and is as mint as possible on the inside.

It is dark red in color with a white vinyl top and a vinyl stripe.

It has abit of rust on the body which is a given, but the paint is the original believe it or not.

The car was completely original when i bought it and has no accidents or any body work.

I am not positive if this was a sporty car or even a nice one back in the 70's, but everyone is amazed at how mint original and classy this car is today.

I have a '77 Aspen R/T Super Pak (360/4 speed) and it's a nasty late 70's muscle car. Good luck.

The Dodge Aspen was under-rated due to some quality control issues that were quickly fixed and had to do with rusting fenders mostly. This car is bulletproof, reliable, fast and an attractive car when in its 2-door coupe form.

1976 Dodge Aspen Just Dodge 390.9 6.4 Liter

Summary:

Pretty good for $3,000!

Faults:

When I first got the car, the gas tank was rusted. I put a fuel cell in the trunk. Then the oil pressure went bad. I had to replace two lifters and two push rods. No problems since.

General Comments:

I bought this car for $3,000. It is not a street car. Drag strip only.

Its best time is 14.05 at 96 mph, with Mickey Thompson E/Ts 26x10.5 inch tires.

It has a 383 Edelbrock Performer Rpm intake. A 750cfm Edelbrock carburetor. And a 3.91 posi mated to a 727 transmission.

The heads came off of a 440.

The 383 is out of a 1968 Charger.

The body is perfect. No rust anywhere. It's a fast car and I am going to make it faster.

And by the way, when I bought this car it had never been raced. The engine, carburetor, intake, ignition, gages, the whole engine and third member were all new or rebuilt!

1976 Dodge Aspen Wagon 225

Summary:

Reliable reliable reliable

Faults:

Starter.

Alternator.

Master cylinder.

General Comments:

Was in a bind and bought it for $200 from a pawn shop. One of the best cars I've owned. The motor never quit.

Manual steering was a pain in a wagon, and she wasn't fast, but she always rolled on and never complained.

I parted her out when I dropped the tranny for a clutch job and saw I had lost the rust wars. The motor lives on in a Dodge Dart somewhere in southern LA.
