2010 Dodge Caravan

Summary:

Good family car, but Dodge needs to fix the brake and clearance issues before I'd buy one again

Faults:

The biggest I've had with this vehicle is the brakes.

First, there was a defective part in the front, which luckily was under warranty. Last year, I had to completely replace the front brakes; this year the rear brakes -- and now the shop says the front rotors have to be replaced AGAIN! I know this is a bigger vehicle, which puts lots of wear and tear on the brakes when using them -- like a truck -- but REALLY? The car is barely 5 years old and I still have a year left to pay on it -- and I've had to get the brakes fixed 4 times already!

It would also be better if it had more ground clearance -- I've scraped the front bumper up parking it by curbs -- it just won't clear them!

Have had problems with the low tire sensor going "on" for no reason and then not shutting off -- yet another expense to have it replaced.

General Comments:

It is very comfortable for long rides. The video system has been a life-saver on long trips with kids.

Love the "Stow & Go" feature -- we use it a lot when transporting dogs, luggage, and purchases from IKEA. Gets decent mileage in town and fantastic mileage on the highway/freeway.

General Comments:

This is my first Dodge vehicle, and I can really say that the ride and handling of this van surprised me BIG TIME!!

Lots of room and EASY ON GAS, compared to my 2005 Uplander! This Grand Caravan burns half the gas around town, and is even better on the highway. I really wasn't disappointed by this big looking van. I really thought it would be hard on gas, but it's actually VERY GOOD!!

The front seats are contoured perfect for long trips, and my family of four has got tons of room.

I've got friends that have put 400,000 km's on these without major trouble, so I'm gonna try and see how many kilometers I can get, and will post it as I go.

Stow & Go is good, but I haven't found use for that yet, but I'm sure I will, when the time comes... at least I won't need to carry those heavy seats out of the vehicle; they just easily fold into the floor! Awesome!

I can't say enough about its great fuel mileage and great ride!!

The Electronic Stability Program in this vehicle is great too, in the winter and summer. It's very noticeable when driving in extreme conditions.
