1986 Dodge D100 5.2 ltr 318 ci V8

Summary:

A reliable workhorse that won't let you down

Faults:

It had been sitting for a year when I bought it, and all the fluid lines needed replaced.

The rear brake calipers shattered and threw bits of metal all throughout the brake drum, so I had to have the rear brakes rebuilt.

The exhaust pipe had rusted away past the muffler, no biggie, except when the rear window was open, allowing the fumes to seep in.

The previous owner smacked into a deer, which took away half of the front plastic grille.

The ignition computer went a few months after I bought it, but a quick trip to the junkyard fixed that.

Engine backfired rather badly during ignition computer crisis, splitting open the muffler.

General Comments:

Overall, once the repairs were made, this truck turned out to be a gem.

I bought the thing for only 500 dollars, put another $ 600 into it, and now it runs like a swiss watch.

It has never let me down in the time I have owned it, even when the ignition computer went, it still could make 55 mph.

Very little can slow this thing down. It doesn't lose speed on hills, even when hauling a heavy load in the back.

Aside from the 14-15 mpg the thing gets, this is a very good first vehicle for anyone.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes
