1985 Dodge D150 318 V8

Summary:

A tank on wheels!!!

Faults:

Smoke's a little when you crank it.

Drivers side door hinges are a little worn.

General Comments:

I just want to say how pleased I am with this truck! It has a 318 engine, in my opinion one of the best motors ever made period (American or Japan). It has over 200000 original miles on the engine and transmission, and still running strong. I pull our camper down the highway with it no problem. Everybody is always asking me to sell it to them. They don't make em like this anymore!!

These trucks have an awesome sound with dual exhaust.

A lot of power.

Just plain tough.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

I agree with you I have over 180000 miles and it still runs great. I have owned all Chevrolet's and I decided to get something different and I was surprised everybody wants to trade for my truck or buy it.

I have a 1990 D150 2wd with a 318, and over 225000 miles on it. I did a throttle body injection to carburetor swap. I like old school much better than sensors. Now the truck has 4 vacuum lines, and just a handful of wires running in the engine compartment. It looks neater, sounds better, and has gobs more horsepower. Plus the economy isn't bad either, I average 18 - 20 mpg on the highway, and 16 with a full load in the bed. I am very happy with my RAM TOUGH DODGE!!! I paid $500.00 for it, and have about a grand into it. I love it.

I agree as well, I have a D150 with the slant six and 4on the floor (3spd with OD). I love the truck. Not much metal left on the box and cab, but 257k miles. The engine has a noisy lifter, but I drive her every day, and I'm gonna drive her till she dies. I have an 06 sitting in the driveway waiting for this one to drop; hope I'll be as happy with the 06 as I am with the 85.

The truck is plain tough and the engine is indestructible. The 2 compartment mufflers I have on my dual exhaust sound so good. I have tried and tried unintentionally to break it or blow it up somehow, but it just won't; even at over 200000 miles, she can run strong at 6000 RPM!!!

How do you try to do something "unintentionally"?
