2003 Dodge Durango SLT Plus 4.7

Summary:

It rates a 9 out of 10 in my books

Faults:

The check engine light came on, but when we took it in, it seemed that the gas cap had just not sealed properly. An easy fix.

General Comments:

We absolutely love our Durango and would recommend one to anyone looking for a large SUV. It handles beautifully, and my favorite feature is the heated leather seats. Makes me wonder why I sit in the house at all.

I would rate the 2003 Dodge Durango SLT Plus a 3 out of 10.

Within 2 weeks of buying my car brand new the check engine light was coming on and the gauges showed it overheating. I returned the car to the dealership and didn't get it back for a week, they thought it was the water pump, then the thermostat and finally they replaced the radiator - this vehicle had 574 miles on it at this point, returned to me with an additional 275 miles for "test driving". I have continues to have problems with the windshield leaking, wipers not shutting off/coming on, gauges going haywire (OK if shut engine off/on again). Latest is that the Durango was towed back to the dealer on Saturday - MIL came on I could reverse, but going into Drive the engine clunked and shut off. Latest from the dealer shop is that it's a Transmission Celliniod Pack that needs replacing - at 37071 miles! Love the look of my 2003, and when it works it's a dream SUV, but the problems and repairs mean I will never buy any Dodge make again.

Summary:

A vehicle you will fall in love with!

Faults:

Absolutely nothing has gone wrong with our Durango. I couldnt be happier with it.

General Comments:

Acceleration is amazing and it handles like a dream. It corners beautifully. Once you try the seats out, you might prefer them to actually sitting in your house on the couch! Great sound system. It gets a 10 in my books.

2003 Dodge Durango SLT

Summary:

Best car I've ever owned

Faults:

I love this car. This is the second Durango I had. The first was a lease. We didn't do anything to it. No oil changes, no maintence... never had a problem. We purchased a 2003 in May. Absolutely love it.

The changes that have been made have only made it more comfortable. Great for the kids and dogs. Holds lots of stuff. Especially being a soccer mom, it's great for the road.

The only complaint is the gas mileage. It only averages 12 miles to the gallon. But if you are buying a SUV, you know this.

General Comments:

Great is snow --- live in New England and I have driven it in a blizzard.

Very comfortable.

Basic sound system has been improved.

Very roomy.

Big center console.

All the positive comments, and praise for this vehicle seem a bit over the top. It seems like they were written by someone at Dodge trying to wipe the tarnish off the reputation of a poorly designed SUV.

My wife and I have just had our first child (A boy) and we were very interested in the Durango, being that I drive a 1995 Chevy Silverado, and my wife drives a Mercedes 190e, and neither vehicle is easy to get in and out of with the car seat. The Durango seemed to be a no brainier, but after reading a bunch of reviews of this SUV, I would not put my mother in law in this vehicle.

I guess what they say is true" Chevy, like a rock " yup. I have had very few problems with my truck and it has over 150,000 miles, and gets the crap beat out of it in the desert many times a year, and is still my daily driver.

You may want to read some of the reviews that other people have written about your beloved Durango.

Oh yeah, how is the soccer season in New England? Sounds cold, you have your kids play soccer in the snow?
