1991 Dodge Dynasty LE 201 cid 3.3L V6

Summary:

Takes abuse, keeps going, nice luxury

Faults:

Well, it was a mechanics daily driver - which he abused it a lot, driving it with a broken wheel bearing, knocking out the starter.

Broken wheel bearing.

Power window not operable on rear driver's side.

Mechanic smashed the oil pan.

Mechanic removed the glove box handle.

General Comments:

I got the car for free because no one wanted to buy it. Me and my friend had to put it back together. After putting it together, it wasn't a bad car, but I haven't installed the oxygen sensor, which is why it performs poorly.

The body is whole for the most part, with a weathered paint job. The parts that are rusted are really terrible; well it's just one wheel well any way.

After putting it back together, and then performing basic maintenance, it's not a bad car, once you come to the realization that you're the 4th owner of a car that has seen a lot of abuse.

I gave it to my mom to encourage to get her license, but since it is in her name, my insurance will not insure it, so it just sits there outside.

I am biased as I prefer V8 rear wheel drive american cars; I just got the Dodge for fun, and it was fun and amazingly lasted this long. When I get insurance I'm going to see how much longer it will last.

Just to note that this is a positive review of the Dodge :). This car won't stop, the engine just keeps going.

1991 Dodge Dynasty 3.3L 201 c.i. V6

Summary:

Strong runner with luxury

Faults:

Water pump was leaking at weep hole. Replaced, was leaking again when traded in.

Oil pressure sensor busted, stranding us miles away. After much frustration, just decided to drive it home like that (3 miles) and let the oil leak all over the road and engine compartment.

Right rear window only worked off its own switch.

Never seemed to idle right, and when cold, it would not accelerate to save your life. Once warm, it was OK.

Used a quart of oil every 750 miles.

Trannys were weak, though mine was very reliable.

General Comments:

Very comfortable.

Stereo speakers sound good w/aftermarket system.

3.3L was a good, strong engine.

Cruise control and power accessories worked fabulous.

A tad too much body roll even for a full-size (of its day).

Gas mileage was exceptional, but the tank was rather big, as well.

1991 Dodge Dynasty LE 3.1

Summary:

A great if you're trying to save money!

Faults:

Replaced alternator shortly after buying it at about 170,000 miles.

Transmission started to slowly go out around that same time.

182000 miles the transmission finally went out.

General Comments:

I bought this car for $700 and it was worth it. In the 2.5 yrs that I owned it, it never broke down on me except when the alternator went out. But even then I was able to drive it 2.5 hours to get it fixed cheap for a hundred dollars. After that it was just routine check ups. The transmission started going out shortly after I bought it, but never got bad until the end.

It's a great beater car and helped me to save up a lot of money. On my car before this one I was spending 200-300 a month on repairs. Plus it started great in the cold MN winters.

This car also has a lot of room. Lots of leg room and trunk space. Everything in the car worked yet when I bought it and when it died. I will miss that car.
