1997 Dodge Grand Caravan EX 3.8 litre V6

Summary:

I would go ith another company

Faults:

I had to replace the transmission at 78,000 miles and had to replace the next transmission 32,000 miles later. Because the transmission was three years and two months old, Chrysler would not repair it under warranty. I have heard that Chrysler has had problems with their transmissions.

The sway bar constantly needed to be adjusted as the car leaned too much in turns.

General Comments:

I will never buy another Chrysler or Dodge again.

1997 Dodge Grand Caravan SE 3.3 V6

Summary:

Good job Dodge

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong with the car and I love it!

General Comments:

I made a HUGE mistake by selling my 1989 Dodge Grand Caravan LE which was equipped with all the luxuries of a minivan. To make up for my mistake, I purchased the 1997 Grand Caravan and I absolutely love it. It is a lot of van for an affordable price. I am the second owner of my van and the prior owners did not have any problems with the van either. My 1997 model is equipped with all power options and dual sliding doors which I find to be very useful. It also has CD/Cassette/AM/FM Radio and has GREAT sound. I have fallen in love with it already as it is also a very safe and reliable van. It looks great and more attractive then the rest of the minivans in the market. I will definitely buy another minivan.

1997 Dodge Grand Caravan SE V6 3.3L

Summary:

A very reliable car at an affordable price!

Faults:

Since I have got the minivan, nothing has gone wrong with it. It has been maintained by the prior owner and I am doing a very good job at keeping it in good shape. This is the second Grand Caravan I have purchased and it is in EXCELLENT shape. I love the way it drives and I hope my experience will be good.

General Comments:

The Minivan is very comfortable and I love the feel of it. It is a strong and reliable van compared to others on the market. I have had no problems with it and I feel that it is a lot of car for a good price. This is the second Grand Caravan that I have purchases. I had an excellent experience with the first one and I have had no problems with the second one either.

1997 Dodge Grand Caravan SE 3.3L

Summary:

Most comfortable piece of junk I have ever owned

Faults:

Windshield wiper problems.

AC evaporator at 2 years and 39000 miles had leak.

Ac evaporator at 7 years and 82000 miles leaking again.

Drivers side window motor.

Belt and idle tensioner many times.

Water pump.

Gas tank sending unit.

Radiator fan relay.

Transmission leaks 3 times.

Left and right CV joints and axles.

Tires keep cupping and no one can tell me why.

Tape deck still broke.

Rear window motor bad.

Front brakes done twice, rears once.

Engine oil leaks.

Today on my way to trade car in for a Honda, my big trade in worth all of 2000 dollars due to AC not working, rear window and tape deck, the engine started running rough and check engine light came on so I had to limp home. Now I do not know if I should take it back to Dodge so it can at least run when I trade it in or just call the junk yard now.

General Comments:

I love the van, but hate the reliability and would never buy another dodge again, I have been burned twice and will not do it again. They have the same problems year after year and do not seem to care. Dodge owners trade your car in before it is too late.

1997 Dodge Grand Caravan Sport 3.3L

Summary:

Unreliable

Faults:

1. Oxygen sensor problem

2. Water pump

3. Serious Safety Issue: The single belt that supplies power to Power Steering, A/C and Water pump slipped off the pulley while on the highway. The engine temperature started climbing upward, but I could not steer it off the road since steering had no power.

General Comments:

1. The van, however comfortable, cannot relied upon. As a result of the safety issue cited above, the vehicle is unworthy of the road.
