2005 Dodge Grand Caravan LX

Summary:

Would not buy another one

Faults:

The plastic parts around the lift gate tore loose.

The passenger side window, rarely used, quit working.

General Comments:

Handled poorly on gravel road. Flipped upside down and back upright. Van totalled, but nobody hurt. Very safe, except back glass was shattered. If anyone were in back they would have been cut.

Depreciation too great. I paid 15,000.00 for it, but the insurance company only gave me 11,000 after owning it only one year before it was totalled.

2005 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT

Summary:

A Dependable and safe car that is affordable

Faults:

Tie Rods replaced in front.

All notified recalls serviced.

Passenger side slider stopped closing, and the part replaced. 2006.

Automatic door locks stopped working last week. We have to use key in the only keyhole on the front driver's door. *being diagnosed tomorrow at dealership. Key switch and upper center console not effective.

General Comments:

As you can see from the mileage, I drive a lot. This car has been great and reliable. Anything that has gone wrong was typical and standard of this model and was covered under warranty. The dealership is the best and that always makes a difference. I've kept up with regular maintenance and this vehicle has been wonderful. I haul everything, and have used it several times to move.

2005 Dodge Grand Caravan 3.6

Summary:

Terrible

Faults:

When I purchased this vehicle, it was still under the manufacturer's warranty (3 years or 36000 miles). At 36700 miles, the power steering pump went out and I was told by the dealer that it was 2 months and/or 700 miles out of warranty. I emailed Chrysler corporation and requested they help with the $329 repair price that I was told it would cost because of being so close to warranty. They refused any and all help. I had requested this help on a previous Ford vehicle and Ford helped me out after warranty. I just purchased a new Ford and do NOT intend to purchase another Chrysler product.

General Comments:

There have been several recalls on this van that I have had to have repaired. I would never purchase another Chrysler-made vehicle.

Summary:

Great van, but I think this particular one is a lemon!

Faults:

The major issue I have is with the ABS light coming on intermittently. I have had the ABS sensors replaced twice and a module/control unit also replaced and the light is still coming on! This has been going on for 1 year now. I have been back and forth to the dealership more than 5 times. I was told it was somewhat "heat related" because the light goes on usually when the temperature is high (90+). I am in the process of filing a lemon law case.

I had the sliding side door channel/harness replaced because that stopped working.

The "stow and go" seat system failed on my far rear back seats; parts for that needed to be replaced. The van was in about 3 times for that.

And 2 other visits were made to take care of recall issues!

General Comments:

The 'stow and go' feature sold us on this van. It is great with kids! (when it is working properly!)

I can configure the seating for whatever situation or need.

The van is very roomy. Great for transporting the family and our things!

2005 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT 3.8

Summary:

Don't purchase this model

Faults:

The issues that I had and still continue to be a problem is that of banging and clunking when driving - the constant banging when I drive over small bumps (seems like no struts).

My sliding doors won't open with the wireless key entry nor will they close, I have to manually close the doors.

My headlights don't go out when I turn them off.

My ABS and TRACTION light remains on all the time and now the new problem is that my radio will not change stations - I have to wait for the car to warm up to play the radio or CD changer.

By the way my car never had the remote less lift gate. pretty lame. The pressure continue to go I even bought new tires and they went down. I contacted the dealer and they did nothing, saying they replaced a sensor I did not bring it in for that. I am racking my brains.

General Comments:

My advise is not purchase this vehicle brand, I only had this for less than a year. So when I trade it in, my next vehicle will be a Toyata Sequoia.
