Rear Suspension & Brakes 290,000 $1,000CDN.

Overall this has been a great car. I am just wondering when it will finally quit. I have yet to do any work on the transmission or engine; however, once they go the car will be history.

1993 Dodge Intrepid ES 3.5L 24 Valve

Summary:

Good!

Faults:

The fuel pump went at 112000 miles. The transmissions was leaking, but Lucas Oil Transmission fix fixed that problem. Needed a new heater control unit at a 110000 and put a new jvc cd player in at 100000.

General Comments:

Good car, but somewhat of a gas guzzler. Great car to drive. Tons of power for a fwd 6 cylinder.

1993 Dodge Intrepid ES 3.3 V6

Summary:

Great Car

Faults:

Not too much has gone wrong.

This past year has been the worst, but some driver related incidents have helped that. It was driven into a flooded road.

I have needed to get the ball joints replaced.

A new Catalytic converter.

Headlight switch has been replaced.

The air conditioning has gone out as well.

But beyond that the car has been great.

General Comments:

This car has been great. All the problems listed have taken place after 110,000 miles, I can't really complain.

I have taken this car on at least a dozen road trips.

It rides beautiful.

It is extremely comfortable.

The trunk space is great. You can fit almost anything you want in there.

1993 Dodge Intrepid

Summary:

Great deal for the money

Faults:

The crank sensor was the first thing to go. Driving down the road or just setting at a red light, the car would shut off. It was only $15.00 and 20 minutes to fix it.

The air conditioner has to be recharged every summer, there does not seem to be a leak that anyone can find.

There is a big noise when you first start the car, 4 mechanics cannot find out what the noise is, possibly in the passengers side air bag.

The transmission slips. I put Lucas transmission in the car when I first bought it and for the first year, the transmission didn't slip. Since that time I have to put it in there on a regular basis. Now it is having a hard time going up little hills.

General Comments:

Overall, for what I paid for the car I have been more than satisfied. I have not replaced lots of parts on it just trying to baby the ones that I have.

The interior is still good and the sun beats on it constantly. The back seat of this car is big enough for a small family to live in... The trunk is gigantic.

The car handles well, no problems in the rain or snow. Will get up and go (other than transmission) when I need it to.

1993 Dodge Intrepid Base 3.5

Summary:

Expensive to maintain, but nice to drive/ride in

Faults:

Car ran well when I purchased it (used).

Transmission had to be replaced at 100,000 miles.

Fuel line leaked.

Headlights are yellowed, dim, and misaligned.

"Check Engine" light has come on sporadically for no apparent reason.

General Comments:

Engine performance has been strong.

After major ($3000+) repairs, car has run strong for past 10 months.

Comfortably carries 4 passengers.

1993 Dodge Intrepid ES 24 valve 2.5 liter

Summary:

A good car, but get a later model with less bugs

Faults:

Air conditioning unit failed after 1 year of ownership. I have had this repaired three seperate times and still does not work to this day.

Driver-side window runs much slower than the rest.

Transmission problems after 2nd year of ownership. When the car stops the transmission struggles into 1st gear. This causes the car to shake. Also it sometimes will not go into 4th gear.

The hydraulic hood does not work and requires you to hold it when inspecting the engine.

The front seat adjustments do not work correctly.

The windshield wipers do not work well at all and require much replacement.

The headlights are horrible and after years of use the plastic has melted and caused them to lighten even less.

General Comments:

The car is rather quick and handles well.

The ride overall is comfortable, but the shocks wear out quickly.

The cabin is nice and the seats and rather nice.

Overall a good car, but with many unnecessary problems.
