1994 Dodge Intrepid ES 3.5 24 VALVE

Summary:

It's the best all around car that I've ever owned

Faults:

My oxygen cencer went out at 75,000 miles.

Transmission went out at 150,000.

General Comments:

The car performs very well. It has horse power, torque, and handling.

It has a smooth ride for a 4-door sedan.

I've had this car since 1994. I've put over 300,000 miles on it and it still runs great. My friends own new Impala's, Maxima's, and other cars to compete with mine. And I must say that not one of them has beaten me in a race yet, and that's with over 300,000 miles.

1994 Dodge Intrepid ES 3.5

Summary:

Dodge should test cars before selling, or get into selling nice cold lemon aid

Faults:

Things gone wrong with this car, transmission, noise on heater control relay, engine, turn signal return does not return automatically.

General Comments:

Stay away from Intrepid. You get what you pay for, even tho I had bought mines new in 1994 and paid a full price, in my case I got way less than what I had paid for. Don't let the cheap price full you, you will more than pay back on all the repairs that's about to come soon and often.

I bought a 1994 Dodge Intrepid in 2003. It ran very smoothly, but it turned out to be very expensive to maintain. I had to re-install the transmission, the gas pump, the water pump, the starter motor, among other things. Too many major repairs. I am desperately trying to get rid of it and get a used car that does not break down so often. My mechanic's comments were: "Intrepids are good for our business. They have so many engine components that they all break down with the same problems. I advise you to get a car that does not have such a delicate engine"

Oh my God, I have said exactly the same thing about my 94 Eagle Vision. I have called it Satan, demonic, possessed, "it is alive", etc. The electronic problems and the transmission problems since it was nearly new have been very frustrating and puzzling. It is now a to work and back car as it can't be trusted for long trips. Nobody wants to buy it because everybody knows what crap they are. It will run around town OK, but in the heat the transmission acts up and the AC doesn't work and on and on and on. The transmission has been a problem from early on an we were stupid enough not to go with the Lemon law. It is way too late now. The dealership only agreed that there was a problem after the 7 year 70,000 mile warranty was up. Bad product and lousy service. And the warrantees area a joke!!!

1994 Dodge Intrepid 3.3 liter

Summary:

Well worth buying, good, dependable car

Faults:

Was originally my grandmother's car, so will tell about problems I know of from her.

Passenger-side air bag cover panel buckled from the heat. Dealer claimed that this would not hurt performance of air bag, it just doesn't look good (I have covered it with a dash cover).

Paint began peeling after about 5 years (manufacturer's defect that I learned about with my Dynasty). Top and trunk lid were repainted in 2001.

Routine maintenance otherwise. All I've had to do is have the rotors turned.

Front seats not as comfortable as my Dynasty, but okay, and they have no visible wear.

General Comments:

This car really gets up and goes. Speed is NOT a problem.

Back seat is very comfortable and roomy. Almost like laying down.

Trunk is huge.

Very reliable and hassle-free.

Drives and handles great.
