2000 Dodge Intrepid 2.7

Summary:

Superb/ classy car, though if possible do purchase extended warranty

Faults:

The power door lock actuators on both the front passenger side door and the rear driver side door malfunctioned, the pressure relief valve on top of motor wore down causing engine coolant to seep out, front passenger side door windows motor performance deteriorated, and being as I am the only one who drives this vehicle it was definitely not caused by abusive tear/wear.

General Comments:

Love car!, runs extremely well with no problems, and with my 2.7 engine I very much do hope that it stays that way.

The appearance of the car are still in style.

The car has a lot of power and if given the chance could most likely run away, would definetly do all the speed it is geared for.

My final opinion would have to be, all that has went wrong with my car has been covered at no charge to myself with the extended warranty that I chose to purchase.

2000 Dodge Intrepid SE 2.7(R)

Summary:

At 10,000 dollars for a used car with 30,000 miles it's a great bargain

Faults:

Passenger side door locks buzz and fail to open or close.

Replaced the factory rotors with Brembo OEM replacements.

Replaced factory pads with Ceramic.

General Comments:

This is an adequate daily driver. A nice size for a family. The 2.7L-V6 is an adequate performer, though no tiger. The car handles well with the right tires and brakes. Braking is significantly better after replacing the OEM rotors and pads. Overall the car has a pleasing look except for the interior (dark) fabric which looks worn and sun bleached and collects all dust and lint. One word of advice, switch to 5W30 synthetic oil, fix the water pump housing gasket, and change the coolant and all fluids the day you buy it. Keeping the tires at 35PSI greatly improves handling.

Bought 2000 intrepid used 6 months ago - 125 k (2.7 lt.) passenger door lock buzzes - oil pressure sender failed - no warning light - engine knocking - sludge build up (although I had synthetic oil change every 5000 - 7500 miles) - had to replace engine($5000 CANADIAN) due to timing chain guide failure - what a great looking piece of junk!!

2000 Dodge Intrepid EX 3.2

Summary:

A roomy, reasonably sporty cruising machine

Faults:

43K - needed new tires and an alignment.

55K - oil pan needed to be replaced when the drain plug stripped out badly.

57K - needed to replace the ignition key tumbler. Key would not turn to the ignition.

3 different times I have had to replace a front speaker. Two times it was the small door speaker, and the other was one of the lower door speakers.

69K - failed transmission input sensor. Transmission locked in 2nd gear.

86K - needed to replace the air conditioner main evaporator coil.

Had to replace the weather stripping around all four doors after significant shrinkage.

90K - driver leather seats showing significant wear, but so am I.

General Comments:

Very comfortable and roomy; fine for four adults for long distance travel.

Strong engine, but not helped by the transmission.

Absolutely huge trunk. Very nice.

Good CD system. Speakers are not great, but they're acceptable. Speakers tend to rattle too often, but I tend to play music fairly loudly.

Glad I bought the extended warranty, but it's a good car if maintained well.

This is my fourth Dodge, and the best one I've owned.

2000 Dodge Intrepid

Faults:

I to, am having problems with the oil pressure in the car.

I change the oil religiously, every 3,000 miles, or 3 months.

I keep getting the check engine light, and low oil pressure light.

I have tried talking to the dealer about it and the cost, just to loot at the problem is outrageous.

I would love information on the class action suit. Am I too late?

Your low oil pressure is most likely due to the switch which is only about 22.00, that's what went on mine. Any questions, email me cdsupplies@msn.com.
