1995 Dodge Neon

Summary:

Save on gas and buy a Neon

Faults:

The seats are wearing badly. They go back a notch when putting on seatbelt.

The windows are noisy when driving on the freeway.

The front speakers make a horrible sound and don't work properly. The rear speakers work fine so far.

We've had this car about 4 years and only had to replace the battery. That's it! Very reliable car!

General Comments:

This car does not have a lot of power.

It does look sporty and cute. The paint is still shiny and glossy.

For the price (we paid $2,800) It's a steal.

At the gas pump. $10-12 fills this baby up! And it goes for like 260 miles.

1995 Dodge Neon 4Dr Sedan 2.0L

Summary:

Reliable And efficient

Faults:

Air conditioning died.

There is a knocking when you turn left.

Rear light clusters build up with condensation.

Slight oil leak, but nothing serious.

Has problems starting when ambient air temp. is moist.

Door speakers blew up.

General Comments:

Overall the car has been very reliable in all aspects. Considering that the car travels 1100kms twice a year to see my family. Sure there have been some minor problems, but that is expected with any vehicle. In any class be it Truck, Car, and others.

1995 Dodge Neon 4 Door Sedan 2.0

Summary:

This vehicle served me well!

Faults:

Turn signals do not turn off automatically.

Brakes squeak constantly, worse after it has rained.

Clutch cable broke and could not be ordered from the manufacturer. My mechanic had to have one fabricated for me.

Emergency brake went out.

Bearing is going out at 148,000 miles. This has never been replaced.

Small electrical quirks that were annoying, but dealt with.

Check engine light always came on when it was damp outside, then went off when it dried off. Mechanic could find nothing causing this.

Driver's seat has torn.

Regular basic maintenance.

General Comments:

This vehicle has been the oldest vehicle I have owned (for the current year and model year) and has been the most reliable. The engine knocks a bit, but what do you expect at 148,000 miles?

My neon is a quick, cute little car, and with the smaller tires drives nicely in the snow. Easy handling, even without power steering!

No air was hard to deal with in the summer, but I was not able to find anyone who would be willing to install it in this vehicle (due to it being cramped, labor would have been atrocious!)

I was rear-ended in this vehicle by a Ford mini-van and there was not ONE BIT of damage on my car, while the van that hit me was smashed in on the front, and the truck that I was butted into had the hitch broken off.

My Neon got a little uncomfortable for long trips, and I would not recommend it to anyone with long legs (as a driver anyway), but it has served me well! It will be difficult to get rid of this vehicle, but since my family is growing, I need to trade it in. Once my kids are grown I will look at getting another Neon.

1995 Dodge Neon Base 2.0 SOHC

Summary:

Nice car.

Faults:

Brakes squeal and this keeps reoccurring.

Had to replace an engine oxygen sensor once.

Had to replace some part of the ignition assembly.

Battery replaced.

Left turn signal does not automatically turn off, have not fixed.

General Comments:

I like the car quite a bit.

For the cost it has good performance, gets good mileage and looks fine.

It has had a few mechanical problems, but there hasn't been anything really expensive and I think I've put about $1000 into it for maintenance in 5 years. It has not failed to start once in 6 years.

I have the base engine and it does second zero to sixty in about 8 sec.

Mileage is good and has averaged about 29 MPG total.
