1999 Dodge Ram SLT Laramie 5.2 liter

Summary:

Best truck on the road

Faults:

The only bad thing about the truck is the seats start to wear after a long time, and the dash (under the wind shield) is made of cheap plastic, and tends to crack and break.

General Comments:

I love my Dodge Ram! This truck is amazing, sounds great with straight pipes, and has more power than you would expect.

My truck has a ton of miles on it, and I have had no problems whatsoever.

The cab is roomy and comfortable, and it gets warm in the truck pretty fast, even with the heat off.

No matter how large your load is, it will tow it.

I'm getting 22 mpg in the city and on country roads, and 24 on the highway. Sounds crazy I know, but I have calculated it, and the overhead computer tells me it's true.

It will outrun a Ford or a Chevy any day of the week.

Anyone that has bought a Ram and is having problems with it, is either not taking care of it, or the previous owner beat the crap out of it and didn't take care of it. If you take care of your truck, the truck will take care of you.

1999 Dodge Ram Magnum V8

Summary:

Love it, would buy another one

Faults:

I, like many others, had ABS light on, check engine light on, and speedometer was not working. Heard about the ABS speed sensor, and it was the one on the middle of the rear axle, you have to look for it, unplug it and twist it off and out of the axle, The new one was around $25.00, and went in much easier. After putting it on, I took the negative battery cable off and turned the key over 2 or 3 times, this resets the codes. All lights went off, and the speedometer started working again. For those of you with this problem, it is not the sensor on the transmission, and you have to undo your battery cable and do the key to reset your codes. Hope this helps!!

General Comments:

Very nice looking truck, drives very good, have had very little problems with it.

1999 Dodge Ram LX V8

Summary:

Great Truck, will buy another Dodge 1500 Quad Cab

Faults:

Actually the only problem I have had is the A. C drain out is leaking onto my floor board. I love my Dodge, I do not love the gas mileage, but that is to be expected when you have a V-8 in it. And oh yes the drivers seat is already worn out.

General Comments:

"Seats need to be re-designed" they are made "Cheaply"

I have a 1999 Dodge Ram SLT extended cab 5.9L with the tow package. I have had the usual backing up sounds from the differential (there is a TSB (#?) about the problem, but Dodge says the problem won't damage anything). Just recently after having the lower ball joints replaced at 76,000 miles the differential has started making a whining noise that sounds like it's gear-related, not a bearing squeal. It doesn't seem to get louder at speed; it speeds up at higher driving speeds with no change in pitch during gear changes. I am interested in finding out what is causing this problem. My friend at work has a 1997 Dodge model like mine and he says it has had the same differential whine ever since he's owned it.
