1994 Dodge Ram Pickup 1500 5.2

Summary:

Nice truck

Faults:

1. Fuel Pump went out at 45,000 miles.

2. Air conditioner evaporator started leaking at 69,000 miles. This apparently has happen to all truck owners I spoke to.

3. Transmission went out at 93,000 miles.

4. Water pump went out at 91,000 miles.

5. Mater cylinder was changed at 30,000 miles.

6. Dash cracked after dealer changed the evaporator and passenger side floor gets all wet.

General Comments:

Dodge should had recall the trucks for the evaporator problem since it seems to be happening to all the trucks.

Dealer brakes more items when you take it to them.

Dealer tells you that your truck has items worn or broken when there is nothing wrong.

You don't happen to live in Mattoon Il do you? I have had the exact same evaporator problem on mine and the stupid dealer broke my ash tray when they tore the dash apart.

1994 Dodge Ram Pickup 1500 Laramie SLT 4x4 5.9 liter 360 cubic inch

Summary:

Economy in a pickup

Faults:

When I first got it I replaced the Valve cover gaskets, you could smell the oil burning off a little bit, but could barely notice any fluid loss. Replaced and just like new. Being that I live in Ohio salt got to the exhaust, so I had it replaced. Other than that this has been a great truck.

General Comments:

Very reliable. A great little pickup. 25 miles to the gallon. You can't ask for much more.

1994 Dodge Ram Pickup XLT Laramie 5.9L

Summary:

Solid, roomy, comfortable and feels safe

Faults:

After about 90,000 miles the brake rotors needed turning.

After 100,000 miles the power door lock switch needed replacing.

Shortly thereafter the air conditioner developed a leak in the condenser coil.

After 110,000 miles the (2) doors started to rust at the bottom.

General Comments:

When I bought this truck it was 2 years old with 70,000 miles on it. I thought I was taking a huge risk, but I got lucky. It drove and felt like new despite the mileage.

After adding another 50,000 miles it still looks excellent and is reasonably solid.

The only real complaint I have is that the brakes are inferior for the weight of this vehicle.

I'm trading it in for a new one in a couple of days. The new ones are unbelievable. I hope I can say that after having it for a while.

1994 Dodge Ram Pickup SLT 5.9

Summary:

Not mechanically road-worthy

Faults:

Dodge cars and trucks seem to have very bad automatic transmission problems, and I had my transmission rebuilt. It went out again after about 5,000 miles, they rebuilt the over-drive unit, because it had melted, due to a mechanical failure of a cooling fluid valve, which is what caused it in the first place.

Now they are supposed to have removed the valve, but I had to take it back again because it drove for 1 day before it has begun a series of maladies including irregular noise, and shifting.

General Comments:

I thought that I had gotten a good deal on the truck, but now I know why they sold it to me so cheap, the transmission is very bad. I have had around 5 recall notices on the truck, some unfulfilled because I am disgusted.
