2006 Dodge Ram Pickup SLT Quad Cab 4x4 5.7L Hemi

Summary:

I would buy it all over again. Money well spent

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong with the truck. I have only done normal maintenance for oil changes, transmission, plugs, etc. No service work has been done at all.

There was a recall on front brake hubs, so the dealer replaced them. I had no problems, but free is a good thing.

General Comments:

This had been a reliable and fun vehicle to own. Handles great with the 20 inch wheels.

It has been extremely reliable.

It has a good sound to the motor adding to the fun to drive.

You can save at least $5,000 when purchasing a Dodge when you compare it to a comparable Ford or GM Product. Dodge dealers will work for your business.

I get plenty of compliments on the aggressive look. Dodge has done well on the appearance.

No brake problems. I replaced front pads at 50000 but didn't need to. Just a service habit I have. The rear pads are still on the truck with 66000 so far.

I have the 5.7 Hemi Multi Displacement Engine. I monitor every fill up and document in a spreadsheet. I average 17.2 MPG each of the last 2 years and I drive in the city everyday.

My 2003 Hemi 5.7 averaged more like 13-14 per gallon. This was a big selling point to get the 2006 Multidisplacement Engine Hemi.

Glad to hear you like your truck. I have a Ram too. This is my second one and I love it. I've been getting about 20mpg with the Hemi also. Way better than any of my Chevys ever got. I traded my 2001 Ram with 196,000 miles for my 07 only because of the deal I got. Enjoy your truck :)

2006 Dodge Ram Pickup 1500 Sport, Quad cab 4x4 5.7 Hemi

Summary:

Nice truck!

Faults:

Nothing so far.

General Comments:

I love this truck. It has lots of power to pull my four quads to the mountains. Tow/haul mode on tranny works flawless.

Fuel mileage is quit an improvement over the old Ford I had. Average is well over 20 mpg/us/ highway when empty and you keep your foot out of it. The cylinder deactivation on the highway works seamless.

Truck is comfortable and sits high on 20" factory rims. The ride is firm but not harsh.

I am not brand loyal, and bought this truck because it was the best deal for what I was looking for. I have owned GM, Ford and Nissan trucks, and had good luck with them all.... Time will tell on this one!

No issues with this truck in last a little over a year. Very happy with this truck... sound of the Hemi is very addicting under acceleration from inside the cab.

I am the original poster... This is the best truck I have ever owned. It soon will be 6 years since I bought the truck, and the only thing I've had to replace was a front brake caliper about a year and a half ago. Soon will be hitting 100,000km. What else can I say... It's a great truck!!

I have been having lots of trouble with the computer which has also effected the engine. Truck has been in the shop 4 times in the last year the onboard computer has been replaced twice. Brakes squeal when trying to stop. Truck smokes during take off like a train which is not normal.

General Comments:

Very dissapointed in this dodge truck, the quality is nothing like my past gm or ford trucks. anyone else had any troubles with computer system with the diesel?

I don't have a diesel, I have a 2005 truck with the 4.7 and have had lots of trouble with how my motor idles due to the computer. The idle jumps up and down all the time and some time the motor hesitates during acceleration. My brakes started to squeal after I had 10,000 miles on the truck so I just keep driving it.

We're having problems with our diesel truck. We believe it's the computer, the dealership believes it's the computer, but the refuse to replace it until they can confirm it actually is the computer. Nice thing about this truck is the problem is intermittent. Of course it works when you bring it into the dealership! Why wouldn't it?!

I have the 2006 with the Cummins and auto tranny and have 176,000 miles on it. No problems. Get around 18 - 20 on the freeway, sucks around town. Sorry you're having problems.
