1995 Dodge Stratus ES 4 cylinder

Summary:

A high maintenance very fun car to drive

Faults:

Wishbone suspension on ES model had consistent squeal that required multiple trips to dealer to resolve when first got it.

Head gasket leak around 55,000 miles.

Transmission seals bad around 40,000 miles - went out and replaced at 115,000.

General Comments:

Have an uncommon ES, one with a 4 cyl engine which has delivered very good mileage.

Excellent pick-up + great handling make it fun to drive. Seats are still most comfortable I've tried, driving lots of rentals.

Repairs have nickle and dimed me on it - sure glad I bought extended protection on it, as I broke even considering several costly repairs before it expired.

So, overall, it's still a keeper, but reliability not near that of a Previa van I've had since '91.

1995 Dodge Stratus ES 24Valve V6

Summary:

Worst entry level sports car ever!

Faults:

The transmission blew at 40,000 miles.

Then was about to go again at 56000 miles.

General Comments:

Chrysler has the worst customer service in the industry.

No matter how much they improve their product I will never consider buying another Chrysler/Dodge in the future.

They deserve their terrible reputation and profit losses.

I have a 1995 Stratus with 38000 miles. Now it has an intermittent problem of shuddering from a stop, then it takes off almost throwing me in the back seat. Surroz Motors, the Dodge Dealer, has no idea what is wrong. Told me to drive it till something breaks and bring it in and they will fix it. That is if someone doesn't T-bone me in an intersection as the car shudders and gasps across the street.

1995 Dodge Stratus 2.0

Summary:

Don't waste your time

Faults:

Wiring mostly, lots of problems with the car. Things just break on this car really bad.

General Comments:

Not a quality made car, these Dodges are nothing compared to their Japanese rivals.

1995 Dodge Stratus ES 2.5 L V-6

Faults:

Paint on hood when purchased was flawed.

Trim on outside of car keeps falling off.

Visor driverside was replaced.

Michelin tires that came with car are not as good as Good Year tires or Dunlop tires.

General Comments:

Although there have been some recalls and some minor things I really do like the car. It is not a luxury car in terms of ride (it has a sport suspension and it is very busy) however it is an economical and easy, fun car to drive.

I recently bought a 95 Dodge Stratus ES and no problems to complain about until yesterday when we went to a street race with 200 other cars (Acura, bmw.etc) I was driving on a side street at 80km and my transmission missed a gear and it was like pushing the gas in neutral. But the worst was when I was on the 401 highway going to Toronto, my car would be stuck in 3rd gear only going 80-90km on the highway. Not to mention I did win my race!!! GO DODGE GO.

GO LEAFS GO

NHL

Thanks.
