2004 Dodge Stratus ES 2.7L DOHC V6 24 VALVE

Summary:

They only want your money

Faults:

Oh god... where do I start?

My oil light started flickering at 21,300 miles (Whenever I am at a stop sign). Dodge fixed the sending unit, but problem is still not resolved.

Head gasket blew at 35,900 miles. Dodge repaired it and said my warranty didn't cover the head gasket so I had to pay $1,800. (Upset about it at this point).

Engine started stalling about 5 seconds after start up randomly at 43,960 miles (very unpredictable, random times.) Check engine light would even come on for an hour or two after it stalled; it started right back up. Dodge says I don't know what I am talking about (now I am angry).

Engine started knocking at 57,240 miles. Dodge says the engine needs to be replaced (they want $6,500) and they refuse to replace it. (Keep in mind the car is still under warranty, I have even followed the maintenance schedule and it was even serviced at the Dodge dealership where I bought it from.)

Today at 58,633 miles: my car is dead and will not start, I am going to file a law suit.

General Comments:

I hate this car and Dodge can go screw themselves.

Excuse my bad language, but this is not right. The car is even under warranty with proven maintenance records, and Dodge won't do anything about it.

DON'T BUY A DODGE, IT WILL COST YOU IN THE LONG RUN.

2004 Dodge Stratus SXT Coupe 2.4 4 cylinder

Summary:

An imperfect gem

Faults:

Car had dash pad begin to come unglued around the defroster vent. I ended up replacing it at my expense (was later partly reimbursed by Chrysler) but I am concerned about whether the replacement is holding up.

Have experienced no drive train issues so far, though I do wish that the gas mileage was a bit better (though everyone tells me that I'm actually doing quite well)

Also, I developed a leak in the trunk that proved to be coming from and unusual spot. I fear the lack of undercoating in these cars will come back and bite their owners.

General Comments:

I very much enjoy the handing and overall sportiness of the car. The sound system is excellent, and it is quite comfortable, though it can be tricky getting in and out.

2004 Dodge Stratus SE 2.7 DOHC

Summary:

Great buy if you have a warranty, don't buy one without

Faults:

A week after I purchased my stratus I stopped at a four way light and my car just shut off. Brought it back to the dealer and he stated there was nothing wrong with it. Since then it has shut off about five times on me. Even though it starts up right away after it shuts off, Its quite embarrassing so still have the dealer plates on you car and have it shut down on you.

The air conditioning didn't blow out cold enough air to cool the back seat in a half an hour before the driver froze. Brought it to the dealer at the time and he said it is fully charged and because I'm a woman he had the courage to bring me to my car and show me, to make sure the dial is all the way in the blue to make it cold. I was really offended actally.

Really Really glad that I bought an extended warranty with this car because at 35,000 miles my transmission pump went out, now this can't be good which it was about 1,000 dollars to replace. Paid by the warranty company!!

My General opinion is my car is a 2004 still relatively new at 45,000 miles and I have a for sale sign in my windows. So unless you buy an extended warranty I would not even think to purchase a stratus.

General Comments:

Definitely this car can get up and go, honestly I crave to race everyone that comes up to the stoplight at night, and honestly smoke them all. That's probably part of the reason for my transmission pump going out!

Roomy and can hold 5 people comfortablly.

Sounds to me like your AC problem is more of a circulation issue. If you're having problems with that, I've found that cracking one of the back windows ever so slightly will help pull the conditioned air further back. I grew up in a minivan so this was something I found in quite a hurry when we were on car trips.
