1973 Dodge Van Sportsman Royal 318

Summary:

A real money maker with little repairs over the years

Faults:

Replaced seats at 300134 miles.

Replaced engine at 307089 miles.

Transmission work at 309902 miles.

Thermostat at 316976 miles.

Needed pitman arm at 3725020 miles.

General Comments:

An excellent utility vehicle and work truck.

Plenty of power for pulling trailers and hauling. The cargo doors open wide and stay out of the way. Able to haul and tow all week and travel on the weekend. Lots of room to stretch out and a sturdy roof for racks. Making this a great van for cross-country road trips.

The Dodge handles well for a van. In emergency's it can get going, and maneuver well.

At home both in the city and on the highway. Easy to park on city streets and fits down tight alley ways. Does just as well off road at job sites and camp grounds.

Regarding mileage of the 1973 Dodge 318 van. You state 3,720,020 miles. Is that correct?

I have a 1973 Dodge 318 Maxi-van and have heard great things about them from various mechanics... Such as..."they are bullet proof," and "they don't die." My friend says it must be a misprint...

The 318 is a super reliable engine, and it isn't uncommon to see them going 200,000-300,000 miles or even 400,000 miles. But 3 million miles -- wow! That would be one for the record books!

It's obvious that he made a typo.
