1993 Eagle Vision TSi 3.5 V6

Summary:

Very fun and comfortable car!

Faults:

I replaced the tires. The spring on the cup holder was broken so I replaced it. Drivers Door power lock switch pushed into door, but still works. The ceramic inside the catalytic converter is rattling.

General Comments:

It handles great around turns, acceleration is a dream and braking is very reliable.

The sound system from the Infinity system that's standard in the TSI is awesome.

The car is better that its sister models, the Intrepid and the Concorde. It's lighter, more luxurious on the inside with the leather seats. It's head over heels above the Intrepid then and now.

It definitely has one of the more sporty looks that Chrysler has ever put on a car (besides the Viper).

1993 Eagle Vision TSi 3.4L 24 Valve

Summary:

Buy the shop manual and drive hard until it disintegrates

Faults:

Problems over the last 9+ years that have averaged about $100/year in parts outside of oil, brakes, belts, plugs, and tune-up:

Catalytic converter ceramic cracked inside (rattles) @ 25,000. Replaced under warranty and it cracked again at 50,000. It still rattles.

Rear window clips failed at 40,000 (where glass fastens). Cost 3 hours + some solder. Remove the old clips, weld to make stronger and reinstall. No problems since.

Water pump and timing belt failed at 72,000 miles. Water pump o-ring failed (leaked) again at 90,000 (dumb design). Cost was about $350 in parts. Autozone replaced the 2nd water pump for free. Use lots of RTV silicone here.

Steering coupler (tie rod end) was loose and both ends were replaced with polyurethane ones at about 65,000. Very tight steering since.

Ignition coil failed at about 60,000. Still ran on 4 cylinders. About $30 parts.

AC compressor failed at 98,000 (my fault-slightly too much belt tension). Replaced with rebuilt and throughly cleaned the system before recharge. $260 including leak check and recharge.

Fuel rails leaded gas at about 80,000. Replaced 0 rings. About $8.

AC presure senor failed at about 40,000.

Think this was about $35 + $40 recharge.

Radio failure at about 120,000. Needed a CD player anyway. About $160. Should have done this sooner.

Transmission is starting to mis-behave (jerk shift) a little when cold (speed sensor I read). Cruise control is out. (computer I think). Trunk sometimes opens in the middle of the night (computer cool-down I think). The inside release is now disabled.

Hope this helps -- Matthew.

General Comments:

After the 9+ years of ownership and problems listed, this is the best car I have owned. It is much more reliable than the 2 Volvos I had before or my wife's Saturn. Parts are inexpensive by most standards, and the vehicles are much easier to work on. My Vision will still hold a sustained speed of 115 mph with 135,000 miles on the original engine. I outrun SUVs all day long. Seats (except headrest) are very comfortable for tall drivers (thank you Lee I.!), and with the Michelin tires, carbon fiber 4 wheel disk ABS brakes, handling is quite respectful for a large sedan.

I don’t recall these ever having a 3.4 litre engine. Are you sure what you have?

1993 Eagle Vision TSi 3.5L 24v V6

Summary:

A fun family sedan you can tour in

Faults:

The trans. went bad at 170,000 miles.

The pasenger front wheel hub went bad at 189,000.

General Comments:

For the money I paid and the mileage of the car, I would rate it as one of the best cars I have owned.

All the failures have been in line with its age and use, no other faults have arisen.

I would recommend any of the Dodge LH line of cars to any one I know.

1993 Eagle Vision ESi 3.3

Summary:

Nice car if you've got spare money

Faults:

The air-conditioning leaks in the cold weather so every spring it needs to be refilled. the technicians can't seem to find the leak.

The transmission had to be replaced at an extreme cost and the ball-joints, tie-rods and sway-bar links were all replaced. The front brake rotors were replaced for wear and they're warped again (this car is not driven hard either).

The water-pump has been replaced twice and is leaking again.

General Comments:

This car handles and performs very well for all the kilometers on it.

But it costs an awful amount for upkeep.
