1990 Ford Bronco Eddie Bauer 5.8

Summary:

Worth it's weight in gold!

Faults:

Replaced fuel pump 2 years ago.

Replaced alternator 3 times since I bought it.

Replaced starter 3 years ago.

Replaced window motors in both doors and tailgate.

Had to replace entire tailgate when lifting mechanism broke and smashed window.

Replaced radiator last year.

Replaced ball joints last month.

Replaced ignition switch due to recall.

Replaced air conditioning twice.

Rebuilt the transmission last week.

Replaced the engine last year.

General Comments:

I love this truck! Yeah, I have spent some serious money fixing things on it, but it's worth it.

The one thing I don't like is the fact that the brakes need to be replaced A lot. I was told from a mechanic that the Broncos have always had this problem.

The gas mileage isn't so bad depending on the distance you travel. I drove from Ft. Myers to Orlando (180 miles) on almost a half of tank of gas with the air on the whole way. So I thought it did pretty good. I rented a PT Cruiser for the same trip a month ago and it took three quarters of tank to get there and that car has a much smaller engine!

It's just now starting to get dime size rust spots over the fenders and above the passenger door which I will have fixed by the end of the year.

Overall, I love it. I got it used for $10,500 and have not put as much money into it in the 7 years as I did the Audi 5000S I had for only 4 years.

This car is easy to work on, rides and handles well and when sitting in it, you feel as though you are sitting in your favorite recliner!

Summary:

Great 4x4 daily driver

Faults:

Just the typical for this truck, the rear tail gate has some rust on the bottom. The engine just went after 195000 miles, of which 50K were off road and most of the other miles where on construction sites. Replaced transmission after 150K.

General Comments:

This is a very reliable 4x4 with lots of power to pull, my boat is about 6,000 lbs and I pull up in the Adirondacks in NY.

A true 4x4 made for going off-road, will go places in 2-wheel drive most need to switch into 4-wheel drive. Great in the snow, mud, ice, rain and what ever else you can throw at it.

Started on the coldest days with ease and very easy to work on should you need to. I would recommend this truck to anyone interest in a true 4 wheel drive off-road truck.

Summary:

Buy one, now..

Faults:

Oil Pan leaked, but was fixed.

Power door lock actuators have stopped working or have become disconnected. Driver lock has been fixed, passenger lock still needs fixing.

Back light on the clock in the radio burned out, just recently replaced. Not bad for a 13 year old light bulb.

Rust on back fenders and above passenger door.

Catalytic converter malfunction; removed.

General Comments:

Overall this is a great truck. It runs smooth. It's got the get up and go, but its heavy, so it won't get anywhere much faster than 70MPH.

Have had no major mechanical problems with the truck. The main engine belt squeaks when it's wet or the air is humid. Haven't figured out why yet.

It's a great truck and I would recommend it to anyone as long as you're big enough to drive it. It's a pain if you're short.

Summary:

Suburban assault vehicle

Faults:

Rear window apparatus went out at 180000 and the pasenger window was not working when I purchased the vehicle.

Oil leak when I purchased the vehicle from the main seal.

Front seat is worn.

Center console lock quit working.

The ignition switch spun free in the steering console.

Serpentine belt squeaks due to poor alignment of the water pump.

General Comments:

I am a larger man, standing 6ft 4in and this is one of the few vehicles that I am comfortable in.

It is like driving on your couch, very comfortable and roomie.

Great for camping, you can load it down and not have any performance loss.

During the summer taking the top off is the only way to go. Great alternative to an expensive to repair Jeep, especially if you invest in a soft top for the Bronco.

Prooven safe in personal crash test. I t-boned a Toyota at 20 miles an hour and bent my bumper, but totaled the car. It felt like I hit a speed bump.
