1989 Ford Bronco II Eddie Bauer 2.9 Fuel Injection

Summary:

The best mid-size sport utility vehicle created to date

Faults:

The gas tank rusted out on me shortly after I bought the truck.

Clutch blew at 214,257 miles. Not too shabby.

General Comments:

Engine solid after 200,000 miles, started every time, never stalled, and not a single transmission problem.

Amazing turning radius and off road handling. The most fun vehicle to drive ever.

Most comfortable vehicle I've sat in. Easily fits four people.

I would easily recommend this vehicle to anyone. Getting the 5-speed manual allows for the most fun and best off road experience. Only beat out by the full size Bronco.

1989 Ford Bronco II XLT 2.9 V6 EFI

Summary:

I still wish Ford was producing this truck, I would definitely buy one.

Faults:

The rear lift gate shocks wore out.

It developed a small radiator leak.

General Comments:

I bought this truck from my boss who was the first owner. It was extremely well taken care of.

His only problems with it were the valve cover gaskets, which were replaced and no problem since.

I drive this car every day to work now and it handles quite well.

Engine and transmission both original, and running quite strong.

Love the tight turn radius, very easy to maneuver, except higher speed cornering with high center of gravity.

The interior is a little small but a worthwhile tradeoff to the maneuverablilty of a smaller vehicle.

1989 Ford Bronco II XLT 2.9L Fuel Injected V6

Summary:

A great truck for off-road use and gets you from place to place

Faults:

1st thing I had to do was to change the rear wheel bearings. While I was at it went ahead and changed the brake cylinder.

Next thing that needs to be done is new valve lifters, change valve cover gaskets, and possibly new valve covers.

Possibly the thermostat is not working and needs replacing.

General Comments:

Great 4x4 truck. I need some bigger tires though.

Plenty of interior room.

Could be quicker and perform better if I put the money into the motor.

1989 Ford Bronco II Eddie Bauer 2.9 V6

Summary:

A cheap, but great truck

Faults:

The truck is great.

I had to replace the entire exhaust system, but that wasn't that bad.

It's kind of a bone, but only because of a plugged fuel-injection.

Otherwise it's a great vehicle.

General Comments:

This truck is a great start-out truck, and can handle my sound system I put in it.

1989 Ford Bronco II Eddie Bauer 2.9

Summary:

An excellent light Sport Utility Vehicle all around

Faults:

The gas tank rusted out.

The fuel line rotted out.

The power locks have failed.

The clear coat is peeling off the hood.

The rear end is sagging slightly.

General Comments:

The Bronco II is an amazing vehicle.

I am a large guy, and the cabin is extremely roomy and comfortable.

The truck has an amazingly tight turning radius.

Even for a V6, it's a beast.

1989 Ford Bronco II

Summary:

Go with a different SUV

Faults:

There are several rust parts on the passenger side door- despite waxes and being kept in a garage.

The gas tank started to leak in 2000, and it cost $400 to replace it.

The muffler had to be replaced.

The 4 wheel drive acts up a lot. Sometimes it works, while other times it will kick and click.

The paint is chipping in the front and all around above the doors.

The air conditioning is shot.

The radio knobs fell off, which shouldn't matter because the speakers blew.

The best... my tire actually popped off on the express way. Luckily, I was not speeding and got over. I'm only 18, so it was pretty scary.

Broncos are known rollers which always scares me when I take turns.

The fuel economy is awful. It is the biggest gas guzzler- you couldn't imagine.

When going over bumps, it jar's your guts. It's very uncomfortable over any little imperfection in the road.

The keyless entry stopped working.

General Comments:

My dad bought this car from a lady who babied it. It was in good condition then. He had for a few years, then gave it to me when I turned 16. He has shelled tons of time and money into that car. We're selling it now because he bought me a ford probe- hopefully it won't have any real problems. The Bronco was always very well taken care of, but I guess after so many years and miles, things starts becoming crap on it.

I will say that the heat is great, the seat are comfortable, and it feels like a sturdy SUV.

I would have to disagree, the Bronco 2 is known for getting good gas mileage, 18-22 mpg. If yours is a gas pig, something's wrong with it.
