1990 Ford Crown Victoria LTD 5.8HO

Summary:

This car is still an intense pleasure to drive

Faults:

The transmission was faulty.

Freon leaked out.

General Comments:

This is my second review for my 1990 Police Pack.

I had 3.73 gears from a mustang installed for better acceleration and a set of mag wheels to bring out the already abundant chrome on the body itself.

I still have not had any problems with this car, and I do occasionally run it hard.

1990 Ford Crown Victoria LTD 5.8 windsor HO

Summary:

An absolute intense pleasure to drive

Faults:

The transmission gave out a few weeks after I got the car. I had it replaced.

The carburetor was leaking and had to be rebuilt as well. Other than a timing correction done at the dealer and the changing of spark plugs and oil every 1500 miles, it is a strong running car.

The interior of the car is in very decent condition although I wish I could say the same for the air condition system - it just has leaks somewhere or other and I have not bothered to get it fixed.

General Comments:

The car handles great in corners for such a land boat, and loves to fishtail when I want it to.

The 351 windsor in it loves to purr and when you blast it on the highway the rpms will not stop - honest!

I have chased 4.6 Mustangs on open road and humiliated the smaller V-6 Mustangs with only inexpensive modifications.

What were the small modifications that you have done to the car? I have a 1990 Crown Vic with a 5.8 as well and want to do some things to it. Mine has over 450,000 miles with a new engine and trans with 125,000 miles.

Thanks.

1990 Ford Crown Victoria LX 302 F.I.

Summary:

Dependable as a claw hammer!

Faults:

I replaced the transmission at 70,000 miles (Not a Ford problem - I was beating the car!).

Also, a malfunction in the power window switch, again by my own hand.

General Comments:

Just fill it up and go. Regular maintenance is its best friend. Has a lot of good miles left in it I'm sure. Paint and mechanicals still holding up well.

For a big car, it still manages good m.p.g.

Power everything makes this car a "poor mans Lincoln Continental".
