2011 Ford F150 XLT 3.5 EcoBoost

Summary:

Ford has a winner on their hands

Faults:

Nothing, the truck is flawless.

General Comments:

I have had different trucks in the past. My most recent was a 2000 Ford Expedition, which had 250,000 miles on it when I traded it in for this 2011 Ford F150 with the EcoBoost 3.5 V6. Have owned Chevys as well.

I can say without a doubt, this is the best truck I have ever been around, & maybe some cars. It has Ford's new 6 speed automatic transmission, and it's also flawless. I know you can go online and dig up problems with the engine & transmission on this vehicle, maybe I got the good one, who knows? What I have seen is there is always some margin of error in mass production items, no matter what it may be; a computer, cell phone, etc.

What I can say, is this truck performs great as a commuter, & when needed to haul, it can do that as well, if not better.

I can say that my fuel mileage is spot on with the window sticker, which I find strange, only because it isn't yet broke in. I have averaged 18 to 20.6 MPG mixed driving, & 23+ just straight highway driving.

Also, I have read where other owner's engines are loud, & I have heard their engines being noisy. What I have to say about that is, mine with the hood up or down, at the drive thru or at an ATM, is extremely quiet, & the wife has even asked, "is it running?, I didn't even hear it start up".

I feel Ford has come a long way. For me, I feel the fit & finish are about a perfect as it gets. The interiors have come a long ways, & the technologies in the truck are top notch.

I am not saying the F150 is the absolute best, but if you want to support America, & buy a product designed and built by Americans, then I would say this combination of what I have in a truck is the ticket. Yes, I know that a lot of the parts themselves were outsourced, but the end result is that 100% of the money goes into American businesses, not into Japanese or Korean or whatever.

2011 Ford F150 XLT XTR 5.0 V8 Coyote

Summary:

Will never buy another new F150 again

Faults:

Bad crankshaft position sensor, oxygen sensors, fuel pump, checked valves, fuel lines, all within the first 600 km. Also the keys are chipped, so from turning the truck over so many times to try to start it, they have gone invalid.

General Comments:

Bought this truck brand new, first owner, and within the first hour, the truck died and had to be towed back to dealer. After that, and it was redelivered to me, it was towed back to the dealer 5 more times within the first month for surging power and the unable to start incidents.

All new cars are nothing but a pain in the ass with dreaded engine management ECUs. They are designed by nerds to be fixed by nerds. In other words a laptop computer, because even the best mechanics, true mechanical engineers capable of rebuilding engines to run better than they did when leaving the factory floor, cannot work out whether it is ECU or engine problems, because everything now is fitted with such silicon junk.
