2006 Ford Fusion SEL V6

Summary:

The 2006 V6 SEL Fusion isn't bad, but it needs improvements

Faults:

I keep hearing a clank sound when I make u-turns and when I first put the car in reverse. 2 dealers have said that's normal, but I know it's not. They replaced a bracket (covered under warranty), but it STILL makes that annoying clank.

Last week I started hearing a screeching noise--this is when the car is stationary with the parking break up--when I first start the engine. I'll be getting it serviced next week.

General Comments:

My car is sluggish; when I accelerate quickly it takes 1-2 seconds to engage, and I have seen my life flash a time or two when I forgot to pad my acceleration while changing lanes. Did I say it is a gas guzzler? I get 322 mpg. It's a V6.

I need tires too, and have found tires matching the original manufacture specs for as low as 135 and as high as 279 per tire, depending on the brand.

I'd only purchase this car again if they improved the gas mileage, and the sluggishness.

2006 Ford Fusion SE V6

Summary:

Good value

Faults:

A lot of wind noise at highway speeds.

Brakes rotors turned at 5,000 miles.

Brakes still make a clunking sound when going from forward to reverse. Have to take it back to dealership.

General Comments:

Overall I am very happy with the car. Power and handling are excellent and with leather seats and most of the available options it easily beats out the competition that was priced much higher. 0% financing made it a no brainer.

I bought this car for road-trips, so the wind noise is pretty disheartening. Dealership has attempted to correct it twice, but the problem persists.

My only other real issue with the car is the fuel mileage. I was initially getting about 29mpg on the highway. When I took it in for service the dealership said it needed the new PCM update and my fuel mileage dropped about 4-6 mpg. Up until that point I was thrilled with the performance and economy. Still waiting for another update that will maybe give me those mpg's back!

2006 Ford Fusion 4 cylinder

Summary:

Not much bang for your buck

Faults:

Lumbar support has broken three times.

Radio/Time light has burned out.

Car is too light for winter travel.

Engine sounds like a moped.

General Comments:

Very disappointing to have the lumbar support break so frequently. I simply don't have the time to keep taking my vehicle back to the dealer to have this replaced. They have to order the part, etc. Headache. Not to mention that when it breaks, it scares you! I've had it break while driving down the busy 401. Not funny.

The radio lights have gone out. If I hit a bump, on they come! It's either a fuse or the radio light itself (which will be very expensive because they have to remove the dash). I'm over the 60,000 mark and it's not covered.

I've got $850.00 worth the tires on this car and it still doesn't respond well on our snowy roads. The car feels too light. When I drive my husband's car (2003 Ford Taurus) with its cheap Canadian Tire snow tires, I'm always delighted with its ability to handle the worst snow conditions. Solid. Drives like a tank! Love it!

Good grief! I've paid a fortune for this car and it sounds like a cheap Sunfire. Yuk...I've learned my lesson. It will be a Toyota Camry for me next time!!

Just because your tires cost $850 does not mean they will be good in the snow. Notice how you said your husbands car has snow tires, that is the difference. You put all seasons on a car and expect them to perform like snow tires. It doesn't work that way!
