1993 Ford Thunderbird LX 3.8

Summary:

The finest car ever built

Faults:

Head gaskets went out at 130,000.

Window motor was replaced at 32,000.

Air conditioner compressor was replaced at 28,000.

Not bad for 138,000 miles and still going.

General Comments:

This car is still as strong as the day I bought it off the showroom floor.

No smoke, doesn't use oil and is a joy to drive.

I just wish I had bought 2 of them.

1993 Ford Thunderbird LX 302 (5.0L) V-8

Summary:

Fast, reliable, sporty, comfortable car at a bargain basement price

Faults:

Fuel pump failed at 144,000 miles. But that's better than average for an in-tank electric fuel pump.

Heater core was bad when I got the car. Had it replaced about a week after purchase.

Other than that, nothing.

General Comments:

Independent rear suspension is wonderful. Rides like a Lincoln.

Handling is a little mushy. Needs firmer shocks, springs and larger sway bars. But that would compromise ride comfort.

Interior is very user friendly and comfortable. Lots of hard plastic on the dash causes squeaks and rattles, though. Digital instrument cluster is very cool. Plenty of rear seat room as compared to previous Fox-chassis models. Front seats are a little flat. 83-88 T-Bird Turbo Coupe seats would be perfect in this car.

200 horsepower 302 V-8 is very strong and gets decent gas mileage for such a heavy car (average about 19.5 mpg). But really needs a five-speed to make use of the power. Slushomatic is a bit sluggish.

Four-wheel-anti-lock disc brakes stop on a dime. Best brakes I've seen since my '88 Turbo Coupe.

Overall, pretty darn good car!

1993 Ford Thunderbird LX 3.8 V6

Summary:

Style, power, and reliability all in one outstanding car!!!

Faults:

The voltage regulator and steering column switch have been replaced. Besides that, nothing else.

No problems with the engine or drivetrain. Just regular work has been done.

General Comments:

It's a great car!! I've put over 30,000 miles on it in the two years I've had it and it runs like the day it rolled off the show room floor. Simply a great car. It's easy to work on and for a V6, it has power to spare.

It's great looking, quiet, rides and handles beautifully, and it seems like the Ford engineers designed the interior specifically for me.

My girlfriend and my friends wish they had my bird. Whenever they drive it, they hate to get back in their car. I love it and hope to keep it for an extremely long time.

1993 Ford Thunderbird LX V8 302

Summary:

A high performance good car

Faults:

The transmission slips into first gear. And slips into 2nd. I added a transmission additive, and it stopped slipping. Nothing else has gone wrong.

General Comments:

This car has balls. It's a fast car. It handles great. It feels as if you're not moving when you're going down the highway at 75. I really like the car.

I was just wondering, is your t-bird a Davey Allison Edition?

1993 Ford Thunderbird LX 5.0 liter 302 cu. V8

Summary:

Powerful, reliable, and good looking!

Faults:

I've had to replace the water pump, and besides from doing a brake job, and purchasing new tires, there has been nothing wrong with this car.

General Comments:

I've always enjoyed power and performance in a car. My last vehicle was a V8, so I couldn't deal with a 6 cylinder engine, and bought the T-Bird LX with the V8. I love it, cause when I need to, I can get up and really goooo!

I also drive a T-Bird LX 5.0. I bought it as my first car and will from now on never settle for less than a V8 engine. The Thunderbird in my opinion is one of the greatest compromises between luxury and power. My brother bought a mustang that costs more than my car. I however prefer my car over his and believe my custom exterior work makes it more intriguing to the eye. The only car I would prefer over mine is the American idle- a Cadillac.

1993 Ford Thunderbird LX 3.8 V6

Summary:

Great looking and reliable

Faults:

Very little has gone wrong with the car. It has been pretty reliable except for a few minor things like an overactive check engine light (even though it runs great) and the passenger power window shorted out once. Both of these problems were an easy fix.

General Comments:

This car is sweet! It is comfortable and reliable. It also picks up girls with ease. I gave it an 8 in performance because the V6 is a little slow, but not too terrible.
