1993 Geo Metro 1.0

Summary:

A great deal!

Faults:

The driver's side door has came off track.

Developed a slight oil leak, but with 159,648 miles what do you expect.

Engine smokes when the compression builds up, but only smokes when you start out.

General Comments:

This car has too be the best all around car for your money. It last forever, and takes a beating, this is our 4 Geo Metro and I would buy 4 more. Everything about the car is well built for its price. This car will out last a lot of the new cars on the market today, and being my first car I'm glad its at least reliable.

1993 Geo Metro

Summary:

Good economy car

Faults:

Both windows have fallen off.

Had to get a new timing belt.

Both door handles on the inside fell off.

The passenger side view mirror fell off.

Things just gradually start falling off or breaking, but nothing that really impedes on the ability to drive.

General Comments:

It fits anywhere!

The gas mileage is amazing. I used to be able to fill it up with only 5 dollars.

There is not much power. Going up hills is usually slow.

1993 Geo Metro Base 1.0 L3

Summary:

A great car for little money

Faults:

Both interior door handles are broken. That's it, really.

General Comments:

I just bought this little car a couple of weeks ago, but I'm so excited about it I felt compelled to complete this survey. I've always been a diehard Toyota/Honda/Nissan man. My 1989 Toyota Van died, the a/c was broken anyway, and I needed a cheap, reliable, simple car for commuting. Well, this little Suzuki-engined wonder has blown me away. The best $500 I ever spent! If you can swallow your pride and drive an admittedly "uncool" car, go for the Metro/Suzuki Swift. I'd love to find a convertible in good shape (I have a 2-door hatchback). No leaks, no oil burning, COLD (TOO cold) A/C, tight suspension. Short on frills, long on value.

1993 Geo Metro 1.0 3 cylinder

Summary:

Cheap and dependable

Faults:

At 124000 miles the car had a lot of problems.

I had to get a new timing belt, and a new alternator and battery.

The car also had an unexplainable oil leak which took a while to locate and repair.

Right now my clutch is beginning to get weak, but then again it does have 135000 miles.

Also, because the tires are so small they seem to wear rather quickly. They're cheap enough to replace though.

Also, I may need brakes soon. They seem to make a slight rubbing noise when I apply them.

General Comments:

I love this little car.

It may not be the quickest car on the road, but it surely is the most reliable. I drive this car to work 6 days a week, 80 miles round trip, and I have yet to have any serious problems.

It does seem to be very difficult to start in cold weather though. I have to keep my foot on the gas for at least 5 minutes otherwise the car sputters and stalls. It runs great in hot weather.

To put it simply, I love this car! It was my first car and has given me nothing but good experiences.

1993 Geo Metro XFI 1.0 Suzuki 3 cylinder

Summary:

A car for the cheap car lover

Faults:

I have had to replace the exhaust system and also have replaced the measly 12" tires with 13" tires to increase stability. Regular tune ups and plug wires and cap are a must. Other problems include a new serpentine belt, new transmission, clutch and radiator.

General Comments:

I love this little car. After advancing the timing 10 degrees, the little 3 s cylinder becomes much less gutless WARNING: do not advance the distributor unless you know what you are doing... The car is great on gas averaging a whopping 40mpg. Though it lacks many creature comforts like delay wipers and rear wiper, it has to be my favorite car.
