1991 Geo Storm Wagon 1.6L

Summary:

It's a very reliable car and I wouldn't give it up

Faults:

To start it off, when I first got the car the RPM's were running high. I finally got the problem fixed - it was the PVC valve and O2 sensor.

Now I'm having problems with my transmission because I wrecked it. It is still drivable though. I only bent the front passenger side bumper and the frame, but I've had it pulled out. I'm having trouble finding the governor chip for it though. I was wondering if anyone would know where it is? If so, email me at twiztid91101@yahoo.com please.

General Comments:

The car is alright speed wise. I've only had it at 110, but I can't go any faster because of the governor.

1991 Geo Storm 1.6L SOC

Summary:

I Love My Geo Storm!

Faults:

Exhaust manifold replaced at 100,000.

General Comments:

A VERY reliable car!!!

I got this car in high school! Seven years (and 93,000 miles later) it still runs as well.

Still doesn't eat oil.

Could use a little more power, but overall a great car.

1991 Geo Storm 1.8 4 cylinder

Summary:

Good car

Faults:

It had a few quirks, but nothing major because the car was very reliable.

It looked junky, had a different color back hatch, but it ran great and was fast as a dang bullet. It had a different engine in it and would scoot.

General Comments:

Great car, if you see one for sale, buy it because it might be the last.

1991 Geo Storm

Summary:

Lots of fun

Faults:

Bad valve guides caused engine to eat oil until warm-up.

Timing belt, timing belt, timing belt!

Distributor rotor shattered at 65,000 and 75,000 miles.

General Comments:

The car will not slide or skid unless absolutely forced to (180 degree turn in excess of 50mph.)

With a few simple mods, this car cooks.

1991 Geo Storm 2+2 Coupe 1.8

Summary:

This is a wonderful car! I wish I still had it today!

Faults:

When I first got the car, it was drinking a quart of anti-freeze a month. I was putting more anti-freeze in it than gas. However, after I got the leaks fixed it was fine during the rest of the time I owned the car.

I had to replace the alternator once (but what car doesn't need this done?).

The third gear started to grind around 107,000 miles. I was pretty disappointed about it. I was given as estimate of $1,200 to get it fixed. Since the car was valued at $1,200 I decided to sell it.

General Comments:

For only being a 4 cylinder car, it had plenty of pick-up-and-go. This was probably because the car was so light. However, if you had 4 people in it, you suddenly felt it really lagging. Two people didn't hinder it much though.

This is a very slick looking car and had the ability to make sharp turns and because of how small it was, it was able to squeeze into smaller sized parking spaces.

My storm would reach speeds of 115+ mph! It was really screaming by then, but it would do it!

The back seats were kind of squished for room, but it's not too bad as long as you don't have to ride back there for over an hour.

I once nailed a guy in the door with the front end of my car. I was able to hookup the front bumper to my van and then back the car up and it jerked the front back out straight. The paint was all cracked and needed to be repainted. Instead, I sanded it myself and then bought a $3 can of spray-paint from Wal-Mart and fixed it myself! The paint matched perfectly, but just didn't have that reflective shine to it. Oh well, at least it looked good.

My Storm didn't have any power options (except power steering). This was really nice because it seems like any type of motorized accessories seem to break over time. The mirrors worked the entire life of the car along with the crank windows, manual locks, and hydraulics for the rear hatch.

It was a great car and I wish they still made them today. I would buy another in a heartbeat!
