1996 GMC 1/2 Ton SLT 5.0 V8

Summary:

This is the best car or truck I have ever owned

Faults:

I have replaced the fuel pump twice, (every 100,000 miles). The radiator just once. And the alternator once.

I am due to replace the catalytic converter.

I also had to replace the interior door handle once.

General Comments:

This truck has been FANTASTIC!

I even bought my wife the same year Suburban; they have been great trucks, the best I have ever owned. I keep mine tuned up and running right, and get between 23 and 25 mpg, depending how I am driving, and my wife's Suburban gets 21 to 23.

I loved my Toyota when I had it, but it never compared to the comfort, reliability, or power of this truck.

And I could load it in the bed of my GMC!

Hands down the best truck I have ever owned, and I have owned 11!

I will probably never own anything else again after owning this truck.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

My wife feels the exact same way after owning her GMC Envoy for 6 years. She NEVER wants another vehicle!! She was trading every 18 months until she got the Envoy. It is awesome. Great power (275 hp I-6), very smooth and luxurious and got 24 mpg fully loaded (including our fat dog!!) on vacation. Never one single problem.

We are a family of car enthusiasts, and we each own 2 vehicles. My wife wanted a small sedan so she bought a Ford Fusion in January ('09). I think she has driven it a total of three or 4 times since because the GMC is so great to drive. Our other GM car (a 9-year-old Pontiac) has also been absolutely flawless. Both GM and Ford are building the best cars in the world now.

Same story. I saw a Corolla that looked like it had got obliverated. I was looking for another car to be all messed up. The other car barely had a dent in it. It was a Chevy Impala. These cars just don't seem to hold up very well in accidents, but they are reliable.

Having had really bad experiences with imports, I can't call them "reliable" either. None of ours made it to 100,000 miles.
