2004 GMC Canyon SLE 3.5 Inline 5-Cylinder

Summary:

Awesome Ride

Faults:

I haven't had this truck very long. I have had no problems with it at all. It gets decent gas mileage. It runs great.

General Comments:

I have the Canyon SLE Z71 Suspension. It's 2WD. I have taken down dirt roads. The suspension on it is great. It is definitly the best car or truck I've ever driven or rode in.

2004 GMC Canyon 4 cylinder

Summary:

This truck is the best vehicle decision I ever made

Faults:

The tires are very poor. They are cracked and weathered however, they are a year old and should not perform as 10+year old tires. They are also very worn.

Alignment needed readjusting.

General Comments:

Great room inside the cab.

Amazing handling.

Very good speed.

No problems after 23000 miles.

Cd and speakers give oodles of sound for only having two speakers. very nice.

Ample room behind seats in my regular cab.

Great for towing/hauling with my 4 cylinder.

Will definitely buy another Canyon.

I wrote the original review, for the person above, I am sorry to hear that about your Canyon. To clarify, my Canyon is the regular cab, four cylinder pickup. It is more or less a fleet vehicle and does run very well. Hope this helps.

2004 GMC Canyon SL 2.8 four

Summary:

Inexpensive mid-size with the feel of a full-size truck

Faults:

The only problems I have encountered so far are road vibration at speeds above 45 mph and rough idle. The first trip to the dealer did not correct either.

General Comments:

This truck has the most interior room of any small/mid-size truck I drove. The four cylinder automatic accelerates better than some of the six cylinders out there. Even plenty of power when passing at higher speeds. Exterior fit and finish is very good, but some interior features need to be updated. The cd player only came with two speakers and there is no key entry on the passenger door. Gas mileage in town is only about 17 mpg, somewhat less than the advertised 20 mpg. Not tested highway mileage yet.

The four cylinder auto is rated at 17 in the city, so you are right on.

2004 GMC Canyon SL 2WD 2.8 Liter Four

Summary:

Great smaller truck

Faults:

Nothing wrong yet.

Sometimes the shoulder belt is hard to pull out without it "catching", but this is not worth a trip to the dealer.

General Comments:

The four cylinder is very quick and responsive, and seems faster than all the other V6 engines in the class.

Yet when I resist the urge to step on the gas, it gets excellent mileage. I'm averaging over 25 mpg, which is a lot more than my last pickup.

Handling and road feel is excellent. This truck is more fun to drive than many sporty cars that I've driven.

I've got the base model truck, and my only complaint is that the seats in the base model could be more comfortable.

Also, stake pockets in the bed rails would be nice.

I am very highly considering buying a Caynon/Colorado. I like it's good looks and also like what I hear about it's new four cylinder engine. My only worry is GM's not so great track record with aluminum engines. I may hold off to get more information on how well it's holding up, but if the rebate increases this fall I may not wait.
