1992 Honda Accord LX 4 cylinder

Summary:

Quality and dependability are what I look for in a car and the Honda Accord delivers on both counts

Faults:

I have replaced the timing belt twice, once at the 130,000 mile mark and again at the 250,000 mark.

I replaced the radiator at the 250,000 mile mark.

I replaced the oil pump at 250,000 miles.

The back, driver's side window doesn't operate anymore.

General Comments:

I paid $16,000 for this car back in 1991 and since have recorded 302,000 miles on the odometer. It's still as reliable and tight as it was 14 years ago. This car is simply amazing! I'm a middle-class, hard-working American, and I deserve to get the best value for my money. I wish American cars were as dependable as my Honda, but until they catch up I will continue buying Honda's for my transportation.

1992 Honda Accord EX 2.2L H22A4

Summary:

It looks like a piece of junk on the out side, but the interior and the engine are still great

Faults:

The muffler fell off. It sounds awful!

The power window fell off track. it took only half an hour to fix by my self.

General Comments:

I never thought I would drive a Honda, I was under the impression that they were not very reliable. So far I am more impressed with this car than any other cars I have driven with a quarter of the amount of mile that this car has.

It has most of the luxuries; power windows, sunroof, driver-side air bag, tilt steering wheel, rear fold-down seats, drivers side arm rest, and lumbar support on the drivers seat. What's great is that they all function properly. Most power windows and sunroofs stop working after 10 years or so.

Performance wise, this car is great. The 5speed transmission shifts easily and feels very smooth.

Although the clutch is worn it doesn't slip horribly, it only chatters a bit in reverse.

The suspension provides the best of both worlds I think. It handles very well, little body roll and responsive steering. Yet, it's a very comfortable ride on most road surfaces.

The engine, even with more than a quarter of a million miles, is very peppy and has good pick up for a four cylinder. Also once I did the first oil change it stopped smelling like burning oil if I brought the car up to higher RPM.

The all around disc brakes can stop this car very quickly and the ABS is great.

The only bad thing about the car is that there was a good amount of rust on the rear quarter panels, above the tires. It also needs a new paint job badly. The car is mostly primer and needs a fair amount of body work, for example the dents and rust.

1992 Honda Accord DX 2.2L

Summary:

This is a good reliable work car

Faults:

Ignition switch relay $100

New brakes and rotors $350

Oil leak $???

General Comments:

I just know this car will always be there and run for me. That's the problem with reliable cars, you don't want to get rid of them when they are paid for. I wouldn't say I am sick of it, so I guess I will keep it a long long time. Probably run it into the ground. Its my very reliable work car. I just know I can trust it, and I still like its styling.

1992 Honda Accord LX Coupe

Summary:

Poor maintenance causes huge problems for Hondas', keep on top of things and you'll be very happy

Faults:

Radiator leak at 136,000 miles, caused from accident with a Jeep Cherokee.

CV joints failed at around 140,000 miles.

Coolant hose needed replacing at about 160,000 miles. (What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas).

Minor repairs are expected at these miles... Great car.

General Comments:

The LX Coupe is a road trip machine!

Comfortable interior.

All the options I could ask for, power windows, mirrors, locks, and cruise control.

Stock speaker system sounds awesome without any modification.

1992 Honda Accord EX

This is a great over all car and still looks good despite its age

90,000 miles stock CD player began to act weird in cold weather.

100,000 miles faulty starter.

120,000 miles tint began to bubble.

130,000 miles transmission computer shorted ended up costing a whole new transmission as well as computer.

130,000 miles master cylinder cracked.

140,000 miles compressor hose sprung leak and freon escaped.

140,000 miles thermostat faulty and car overheated.

150,000 miles transmission still acts up, but unhooking the battery for about 30 minutes works very well.

160,000 miles compressor switch went out.

160,000 miles stock CD player no longer works.

160,000 miles fuel injectors cracked.

The trunk leaks.

Door seals deteriorate.

Vibrates heavily in reverse.

Door sensors (for headlight warnings, dome light, door ajar, keys in ignition, etc.) Stick and/ or only work in cold/damp weather.

Door speaker fabric comes off.

Retractable antenna doesn't retract all the way.

General Comments:

I know I put a lot of faults, but I get great gas mileage, and when it rains it pours, but at the same time once I get it fixed its fixed. I have put a lot of miles on it since I have had it, I drive 80+ miles a day in the Texas heat and the only thing that I have had to really invest in was the transmission.
