2000 Honda Accord LX 2.3L 4 cylinder

Summary:

Absolutely love my car!

Faults:

Bought my car Jan 2009 at 179 000kms. Now it has 220 000kms, and so far few problems.

The sway bar links had to be replaced ($30 parts).

The catalytic converter came detached from the exhaust pipe, but my dad just replaced the bolts.

Master cylinder had to be replaced. ($100 part).

Currently it has an exhaust leak at the flex pipe, but I'm in no rush to fix it.

General Comments:

For a car being 10 years old with 220 000kms, I cannot complain about the few, inexpensive problems I've had.

Overall I love my car. The way it looks and rides. It's very comfortable, and it looks like a much newer car than 10 years old.

It's great on gas as well, with getting 600-700kms on a tank.

It also has a fair amount of power for a 4-cylinder.

2000 Honda Accord EX

Summary:

Great, reliable car

Faults:

Transmission, during a recall recently after purchasing the car.

General Comments:

I am 19 years old. My parents bought this car in 1999, they knew I would eventually drive it.

The car has been incredibly reliable, with the exception of the transmission recall all 2000 Accords had, which Honda replaced.

I really enjoy driving the car, and it was a perfect size car for me to learn to drive with, and as I said, has never had many problems.

I would recommend this car to anyone. It is also pretty good on gas.

2000 Honda Accord EX V6 Coupe 3.0L

Summary:

One of the best cars in the world

Faults:

The battery died after 19 months - warranty replacement done by the dealer - cost me a day of work.

In the third year (50,000 km) both rear wheel bearings went bad - warranty repair.

The alternator blew the rectifier bridge diode after five years (110k) - could not get a kit, had to buy the whole thing (300 CAD). Also bought a service manual - 200 CAD.

Got the check engine light at 115k, turned out to be the EGR - factory recall paid for that.

Changed the timing belt and water pump at 123,000 km, done it myself - parts + tools = 500 CAD and a solid day of work.

Front stabilizer bulb-joint became loose after 7 years and had to be replaced, did both sides - 80 CAD.

After 8 years the light cluster mounted on the trunk started taking water - had it apart and resealed - two days of work!

I routinely replace rotors and brake pads every 40-50,000km. Costs less than 400 CAD.

After 8 years the driver's seat starts to show wear - the plastic leather peals off.

After 9 years it is starting to rust.

General Comments:

Best car I ever drove. Quiet inside, sticks to the road like glue. It has a hard sporty suspension that lets the driver feel the road. As far as speed goes, this one will not go past 210km/h, and at 140kph feels like my old Mercury Topaz did at 90.

Very nice ride on the original Michelin Energy tires.

Things to change:

1. Check engine light needs to be more elaborate - I do not wish to be taken to the cleaners when it comes on.

2. Alloy rims leak air once the tire is older then 3 years.

3. Odometer LCD and radio LCD are flaky - this is most likely a zebra connector problem.

4. Switches with internal lights - cruise lamp died in the last year.

5. The timing belt replacement interval - this should not happen in this day and age.

2000 Honda Accord EX V6

Summary:

Other than the SRS light, the car is great!

Faults:

I purchased my 2000 EX V6 4 Speed Automatic from my daughter in 2005. Within several months of owning the car, the transmission indicator would flash on D4, so I called Honda and it was under warranty and was "rebuilt" free of charge.

A year later my SRS light was staying lit and I had a new seat-belt assembly installed 2007 "under warranty".

Now last week the SRS light is on again. I have been searching and cannot find recall information about the SRS light?

Also about 4 months ago my car would not start after parking at store car was running fine then I come out and it would not start. Had taken it to my mechanic and he was getting a code that it was the ERG and replaced it. The car would run fine, then the light came on again, he thought it was a defective ERG valve so he installed another one.

The car was still not running right, so I had to take it to a Honda dealer and they said it was the computer. That was about $800.00.

Even after the computer was installed, the car does not run the same, in the morning it has a miss, but after it's warmed up it is fine.

Also, if I have anything in the passenger seat bag, purse, etc. the airbag indicator light goes on and off. I have read so, so many complaints about this SRS light, you would think Honda would do something about it. If anyone has any information about a recall for the SRS light, please let me know.
