1990 Honda Civic Si 1.6L

Summary:

It's a tank, but comfier

Faults:

Water pump failed.

Starter failed.

Alternator failed.

Exhaust system has fallen apart on two separate occasions.

A few random electrical problems, especially during wet weather.

General Comments:

Have driven the living heck out of this car, including two cross country trips (one towing a U-Haul after getting the hitch welded onto the back) and it's always inspired confidence.

With 173k miles it's not nearly as peppy as it once was, but I guess that's to be expected.

Still on the original clutch, if you can believe *that*. Of course I don't drive like a maniac. :)

I'll forever be faithful to Honda after experiencing this car's rock-solid nature for the past 10 years in jungle-like humidity (St. Louis), brutal winters (Toledo) and arid, sweltering desert (Tucson).

1990 Honda Civic Si

Summary:

I love this car

Faults:

The muffler has fallen off twice. The original two twin tips have both fallen off. Since I have replaced the tip and exhaust, nothing has gone wrong with it.

General Comments:

I just love this car. When I was looking for a car, this was the first one I looked at and I bought it two days later. It has been nothing but good to me. As long as you keep up with proper maintenance and tune ups, you will have no problems.

I am selling my car so I can get a new model. I really do not want to buy anything but another Honda because I know that they are so reliable and they are really good looking cars.

1990 Honda Civic LX 1.5L

Summary:

Not a bad car overall, I just bought mine a little too old..

Faults:

Front coils rotted and broke at about 180,000.

Leaks in the radiator hoses and clamps.

Transmission never really felt right.

General Comments:

I bought this car pretty old so the above was all expected maintenance. The transmission was REALLY sluggish, especially if there were more than 2 people in the car. I would recommend the standard (5 speed) model.

Surprisingly all the power extras still work other than the cruise control.

1990 Honda Civic Si Hatchback 1.6L

Summary:

A very good car

Faults:

Alternator went and tried to fix it myself (big mistake), you have to take the left front axle off to get it out of the engine compartment.

Gas tank began to leak, was replaced.

Distributor rotor went twice in two weeks.

Finally called it quits when some valve springs got loose.

Burn two quarts a week.

General Comments:

For the km and how I drove it, this car is probably the best manufactured car on the market. I would get one just like it in a heart beat, although I will probably get one with A/C.

1990 Honda Civic LX 4 cylinder

Summary:

Excellent car, everyone should drive one at some point in their lives

Faults:

CV joints, both sides.

Stalling problems, with and without ignition ignitor recall. In and out of the mechanic several times, but I question his competency.

Usual wear and tear.

Water pump at 95000 miles.

Trunk latch broke one day, and had to tie it down. Thank goodness for my luggage rack.

Started burning oil very bad toward the end.

An alternator a year, and several batteries along with it.

General Comments:

I loved this vehicle. Cried when engine blew cylinder #2 going up a hill, but wouldn't you know it, she still ran... just clunky and slow!! Sold her with a dead engine!!

The interior really held up, even when it got submerged in water. Looked brand new right until the end.

Very open and airy passenger compartment. Friends with sports cars liked driving mine better than their own!

1990 Honda Civic Si 3-Door Hatchback 1.6L DOHC 16v

Summary:

Speedy and economical!

Faults:

Absolutely nothing! It was perfect from the moment I got it!

General Comments:

The 108 horsepower 1.6L DOHC engine is extremely efficient in providing a smooth and extremely fast ride. This car is quick and I mean quick, and its also a gas saver at the same time. You get the best of both worlds with this little hatchback!

I have owned two 1990 Honda Civic Si's and loved them. But watch out because around 160k they start having cooling problems.

Well the car is not powered by a DOHC 1.6 vtec it's a SOHC 1595 cu non- vtec. Only cars macufactured in Japan have a B16a with is a DOHC Vtec :)
