1991 Honda Civic DX

Summary:

A car owner's dream!

Faults:

The car was almost without fault until it was over 140,000 miles, except for the typical muffler, tire and electrical cable replacements.

The manual 5-speed transmission and the clutch have never needed replacement and still function as if it were brand new!

Between 140,000 and 219,000 miles (1999 through 2001) is when about one problem per year started.

The radiator was replaced first.

After two trips out West on some very bad dirt and clay/washboard roads, the struts had to be replaced.

During 2001, I put about 50,000 miles on the car with 3 trips out West and 2.5 trips to Florida, so naturally more things went wrong.

The generator was replaced on a trip to southern Florida.

The engine went out about 198,000 miles and was replaced with a rebuilt engine warrantied for 3 years.

Finally, the arm of the windshield wiper lost its position, but that even still functions.

General Comments:

The air intake manifold's seals were installed incorrectly, when the engine was replaced, but the car still went up 10,000 ft. mountains operating on 3 out of 4 cylinders.

The manual transmission makes this 4 cylinder car operate like a 6 cylinder one, when it comes to quick starts and passing.

Because the back seat disengages and can go flat for storage, it provides the storage convenience of a station wagon.

Gas mileage surpasses most others, even the newer cars with about 35 city and 40 to 45 on the highway.

1991 Honda Civic Si 1.6

Summary:

I love it!

Faults:

I just bought this car last week and I went to get it inspected and both rear control arms have to be replaced along with brake shoes and drums.

A new cz motor was put in for me that had 35,000 miles on it.

Other than that I love this car. It runs fantastically.

General Comments:

A high performance car. I do not like the shape of the car, but I'm getting the body kit on it within a month.

1991 Honda Civic Si Hatchback 1.6Liter

Summary:

Low-budget Porsche!!!

Faults:

The igniter would stop working when the engine warmed up. I replaced it myself for $122.00.

No other problems!!!

General Comments:

I have owned this car for 9 years now, and I have driven it like a racehorse on methamphetamines being chased by a hungry cheetah, and it has never let me down!!!

Through all of the hard, abusive driving I have put this poor little car through, it still performs beautifully.

It still gets 33MPG.

It accelerates with the spirit of a Porsche.

The paint still looks decent.

Everything still works, including the A/C.

I got the car at a good price, because it had a salvaged title. This made me a little wary at first, because salvaged cars might have been severely damaged and so might have a much lower resale value. But this never mattered, as I have never wanted to sell it. Several people have asked me to sell it to them, but I like this car too much to let it go.

Is it for sale.

He was making a comparison.

Also, I'm thinking about buying one. I drove it around. It has great power, it looks pretty decent (under the hood), and the guy is willing to sell it to me for $2000 straight. Is that a good deal for any '91 SI?

You would have to be crazy not to buy this car for $2000, they are hard to come by nowadays. I have one and love it. Granny

1991 Honda Civic Si

Summary:

My favorite car I have ever owned to date

Faults:

The rear rocker panels rusted out... had to do some body repair there, had the whole vehicle treated and other than this work... the body is still mint.

Had to replace the hatch back hydraulic lifters... cheap fix. Otherwise, as it stands now, just have to replace the CV boot (it's throwing oil) and redo the brakes.

General Comments:

It's time to sell... have bought a 3/4 ton diesel... REALLY hate to see it go, have enjoyed the car immensely. A timeless classic, reliable and solid. Still drives as quick and sporty as the day we bought it.
