1993 Honda Civic LX 1.8

Summary:

The most reliable car you will ever own

Faults:

When I first got the car I stalled out during a thunderstorm and flooded the engine. A day after pulling and drying the car out it turn over and I drove it to work. Long story short, the engine blew. The extended warranty I bought replaced the engine with a used one with 30, 0000 miles on it. It's the same engine to this very day.

General Comments:

I use this car mainly for work. I put several hundred miles on it every week. After 240,000 miles it still runs like a champ.

I had the timing belt replaced at around 140,000.

The clutch at 210,000.

The AC Evaporator at 190,000.

I still get 28 - 32 MPG depending on my driving.

I got in a car wreck a few weeks ago and totaled the front end. Did I buy a new car? Heck, no! I got it fixed and repainted and the thing still rocks! Except of course - it now looks like new!

1993 Honda Civic DX 1.5

Summary:

High performance bargain

Faults:

Passenger side boot went at 120,000 miles.

Driver side boot went at 130,000 miles.

Not enough wheel base the car is very unstable during turn at moderate speeds.

There is rubbing noise coming from the distributor area I have changed the distributor and rotor, but the problem is still there.

General Comments:

These are minor problems compare to the miles on the vehicle.

If it had more room I would never have gotten a 2000 ls Malibu.

1993 Honda Civic DX 1.6 litre gas

Summary:

Great mechanical reliability!

Faults:

Replaced heater motor, on warranty, in Dec./94.

Rack and pinion steering has a minor fluid leak and should be replaced.

General Comments:

This is the most economical and reliable car I have ever owned, and it still "feels" new. It handles very well and I much appreciate the excellent stability.

1993 Honda Civic Si 1.6L Turbocharged VTEC

Summary:

A highly adaptable, high performance car with an innocent cover

Faults:

The water pump needed replacement at 70,000 miles, but that was after 30,000 miles of hard driving and street racing.

General Comments:

With the modifications I have made to my car it has about 310 horsepower at the front wheels, and that's without nitrous activated. The modifications include, a Hyper-tech Performance Chip, a Venom Performance Module, Acura Type R heads, oversize rocker arms, an intercooler, G. Reddy Turbocharger, custom exhaust, high performance racing transmission, a custom nitrous oxide system, and a racing intake manifold, I have about $10,000 (US) into my car and couldn't love it more. My car was quick when I acquired it, but with my mods I'm keeping pace with Toyota Supra's and have beaten a Supra with a 2JZX-GT engine.

1993 Honda Civic Coupe EX 1.6 Vtech

Summary:

The undisputed king of the 4 bangers!

Faults:

The radiator cracked at around 145,00 miles as a result of the thermal fuse going bad.

The back struts had to be changed at 242,000 miles.

Outside paint is beginning to wear along the top and hood, but no more than any other 9 yr old car on the Gulf Coast.

General Comments:

This car is everything that the other "economy" imports and domestics are not. Hence the 9 yrs of ownership.

After every routine servicing the car seems quicker.

Although this car is going on a decade yrs old its not even showing its age. (and me either).

The only thing that I would change about this car would be the front -end headlights (which Honda did in 1996) but a front end mask gives it a better appearance.

I just bought a 1993 Honda Civic Ex with 245000. I have since used it as my daily driver now for about 8,000 miles in the past couple months. Only thing I've done to the car was two oil changes. Car has no rust at all, and still rides pretty well. I plan on this thing lasting another 100,000. I'll keep everyone posted if I run into any problems. I had my local repair shop check it out when I bought it, said they couldnt believe for that many miles how nice it was. No Cavalier or sunfire is going to do that for you.
