2002 Honda Civic Si 2.0L DOHC I-vtec

Summary:

Has potential

Faults:

The cruise control only works when it wants to.

The gas mileage is good sometimes and then sometimes not.

General Comments:

I really like this car because its comfortable to drive.

I don't like the fact that when you have it on defrost the AC is on.

I don't like that the sun roof opens a little bit when you pop it up.

I really like the shifter, it has made driving long distance comfortable.

The stereo gets really good reception.

I had a 99 Honda Civic before and I felt that offered more leg room in the backseat.

If you don't like the fact that the A/C turn on with your defrost, just go to your dealer and ask to re-program the computer. This is what I did in the first month of my purchase and cost me absolutely nothing. Now, I have complete control of my defrost and A/C.

2002 Honda Civic LX

Summary:

Still a good car, but noticing little bugs uncharacteristic of Honda

Faults:

Tires on vehicle seem to be wearing down very quickly. Already had one side wall blow out. This tire was worn to the wear bar, it had 21,000 miles on it.

Dealer replaced all four struts already. A couple of struts were leaking, car had 21,400 miles at this time.

General Comments:

I have owned three previous Honda civics. I have noticed with the last two I have owned much more slipping on packed snow than the first civic I owned. I don't know if this is due to a lower grade of tire or too much front wheel pick up speed, but it is noticeable to me.

Wipers are real cheap and must be changed often.

All in all a good comuter car, not for long trips. If Honda would make a four wheel drive civic (sedan) it would make me happy.

2002 Honda Civic dx-g 1.7

Summary:

An economy car with good performance

Faults:

Front struts started to leak, they were replaced under warranty.

Clutch pedal noise, In the process of being fixed.

Tie rod end became loose, fixed under warranty.

General Comments:

This car almost feels like my old Mazda Protege touring edition, the engine is a little loud, but gives quite good performance for an economy car as well as returning good gas mileage around 550-600 km in the city per tank full.

The interior layout is well thought out and comfortable, some say the seats are a pain, but I found them firm yet comfortable.

Service intervals are quite good, long life coolant, platinum plugs, and an 8000 km per oil change interval.

The ride is a quite firm and not as good as my old 96 Civic.

The engine loves to rev 6800 RPM red line good for a 100km/h in second gear. Passing power is good also at least with the manual.

The exterior is attractive not handsome like some cars, but definitely not ugly either. The metal is a little thin and does dent quite easy, but what do you want for a lightweight car.

Overall for an economy car and for the price I paid, I would say this is a very good car for people who still enjoy driving, but don't want to pay a fortune in gas.

2002 Honda Civic LX 2.0

Summary:

I wish that it would go faster that around 96!!!

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

This is a good car, but the only thing that is messing with is that everybody's civic goes over 110mph but my only goes to around 96mph. Please someone tell me what maybe wrong with it because the people at the dealership says that nothing is wrong with it.

Your speed problem is due to the overall size of your wheel compared to the others.

Why do you need to drive that fast in that car? You own a basic 2002 Civic which is just a cheap, plastic car designed to get good gas mileage and be reliable. Driving any faster than that fast on the street is only going to leave your car in a million plastic pieces, and no the airbags won't save you either at that speed. Its not a sports car, nor does it even have the horsepower or handling of one. If you are trying to race your civic at a race track (which I doubt), buy a sports/performance car and use your Civic for daily driving. I'm 20 and that's exactly what I did, and I've never been happier since.
