2007 Honda Odyssey LX gas

Summary:

I think it is great!!

General Comments:

I love my new Honda; it is roomy and comfortable, and handles so nicely on the freeway.

We took eight people on a trip of about 600 miles, and everyone was relaxed and comfortable for the entire trip.

2007 Honda Odyssey Touring 3.5 V6

Summary:

The bad outweighs the good on this van

Faults:

Run flat tires are useless here (must be purchased at a dealer -350 miles away), no place to put a spare, regular tires cannot be used on alloy rims. New rims and tires cost about $1000. Spare lays on the floor in the back - a hazard in the event of an accident.

Front grill has no screen; a rock hit it; now the air conditioner does not work because the freon leaked out.

Navigation system does not work in Alaska, and there is no updated or Alaska version available. This would be very useful in Anchorage. I miss it very much.

We paid over $36,000 to get the top of the line; some of the expensive features are worthless. We had previously been happy Honda owners (our RD brand new Honda and several used). We have also purchased third new Ford Taurus station wagons. We like new cars. But we are sorry we went with the Honda Odyssey.

General Comments:

The van does have some nice features: the 6 CD player is nice.

The heated leather seats are comfortable.

The DVD player is hard to figure out sometimes. Seems like sometimes the rear speaker works, sometimes it doesn't.

The calendar and calculator features on the navigation system are handy.

The remote works well: opens hatchback and side doors in addition to locking/unlocking doors.

Sunroof is pleasant.

2007 Honda Odyssey Touring Edition V6

Summary:

Outstanding at what it does - it is a great minivan

Faults:

So far nothing has gone wrong with the vehicle.

It has an annoying squeak when the DVD screen is lowered, but other than that is is virtually flawless.

General Comments:

The lawyers have crippled the NAV system. It gives you more warnings than directions. But it is usable, it is just crippled.

Handles well for a minivan.

Awesome at what it does, which is haul a family with kids around in comfort and convenience.

Transmission downshifts uncomfortably.

Brakes require more effort than I would have expected, but they DO haul the vehicle down fast.

2007 Honda Odyssey LX 3.5V6

Summary:

Excellent minivan with scary brake performance

Faults:

Brake master cylinder had an internal leak with only 3000 miles on the car. Brake required more force than my previous Toyota and the condition got worse. When I took the car to a nearby dealer, they found an internal leak and fixed it under warranty. Brake still requires strong push to stop the car. Also, ABS kicks in if I hit the brake in the corner making the car jerking forward. Very scary, but the dealer told me "nothing was wrong with the system". The whole brake system should be recalled.

General Comments:

The engine is the best part of this car. The VTECH engine provides ample power to move the heavy body forward with a good accelration. Handling is very good for a mini van. Ride is bit on the stiff side as is most Honda cars. Overall style is better than Toyota Sienna and is much much better than Nissan Quest. Gas mileage is poor with an average of 17 to 19 mpg freeway/street combination. OEM stereo sucks! If Honda improves brake and stereo, this car would be perfect.

2007 Honda Odyssey LX 3.5L

Summary:

Best in class - I just hope to never see the dealer again

Faults:

Dealer had to replace the tire pressure monitor before we bought it at 40 miles. Having a warning light staring you in the face during a test drive before you leave the parking lot does not leave the best impression with you.

Glove box is misaligned from day one.

The car would have a delayed engagement when shifting from reverse to drive. It would take 2 seconds then clunk. I asked the service writer about it and he claimed "the new Honda automatic transmissions do not use clutches any more, they only use gears which take longer to engage". I almost did not know what to say as he flat out lied. Just to make sure I actually read through the repair manual and sure enough the transmission has clutches. I could not believe that the dealer would flat out lie. Anyways the problem seemed to clear itself up within the first 3,000 miles of driving - not sure how, but it did.

General Comments:

Keep in mind that I am picky about cars... The suspension has more clunks and thunks over bumps than I would have expected in a new car. Road noise is a bit pronounced on most roads. I find the brakes to require more force to stop than I prefer - but I have found this with every Honda I have driven.

This is the first car that I have owned in which I could not reach the EPA highway mileage ratings.

Other than that the car is fine. I am impressed with the steering and the quality of the interior materials. The Odyssey has the best looks in the class in my opinion.

I still think that this van is the best in its class and would still buy it again.

After hearing of the problems people are having with the condensers I installed plastic mesh in front of the lower opening of the car to provide a little protection. With any luck I will never know if this trick truly works or not.

2007 Honda Odyssey Touring 3.5L

Summary:

Best van on the market!

Faults:

Nothing wrong, no strange noises.

(My 2000 Windstar had a steering noise issue since new which resulted in steering rack failure)

General Comments:

Fast, comfy ride. As it is a van, do not expect many miles per gallon.
