2005 Hummer H2 SUT

Summary:

Extremely safe car!

Faults:

When I first purchased the vehicle in 2004, 5 years ago, I got 11.6 miles per gallon. Now I only get 10.4 miles per gallon.

Had to replace the suspension at 65k miles.

General Comments:

I loved the car when I first bought it. Now that it's 5 years old, I take it for granted, but surprisingly still get compliments on it.

2005 Hummer H2 Lux 6.0 gas

Summary:

As good a unit as an Escalade for less money

Faults:

Battery.

General Comments:

Second Hummer, first was a 2003 Wagon that required a battery & water pump. The 2005 SUT has required a battery. I am not going to complain though as my BMW M5 required almost the same items to be replaced.

The Hummer is a fine vehicle that with my modifications returns me up to 17 mpg on trips. This is as good or better than my 1998 2dr Yukon & 1997 Chevy short box reg. cab. I have a 1997 Denali 4x4 truck that gets 18 mpg average so the Hummer compares favorably. 10-12 mpg is unreasonable, but then mine was modified to get better mileage.

What modifications can be made to get better mileage on 2005 H2 Hummer?

2005 Hummer H2

Summary:

Loved car, too bad it didn't work

Faults:

Transmission went at 60,000.

At 60,000 the transmission started acting up and then finally blew up. It was out of warranty. I had to replace the tranny at an authorized Hummer dealer in order to get another warranty on a new tranny which started going immediately after installation.

The bill that I had was 4000.00. I fought with GM and one year later they paid me $3000.00 - they wouldn't cover the entire cost of the vehicle.

Tranmission was garbage.

Would have liked to have bought another vehicle because it drove so beautifully for a while, but couldn't take the risk.

Disappointed in service from GM.

General Comments:

H2 drives like a dream.

Cabin is roomy and front seats are extremely comfortable.

Very easy to drive.

Transmissions are unreliable.

Yeah, of the GM products I had, I really DOUBT, the engineers or even the employees would want to drive them. They seem to cost so much more to keep running, as you would know first hand.

How disappointing to buy a new vehicle & when others have had no major problems, you end up spending $4000, & then have to fight them for your $$$.

They say buy American, but it seems the people at GM make cars about as good as, let's say twinkleland.

Every time a friend asks me to check out their car, Im saddened when it's a cheap jeep. They tell me it's one thing after another, then even after repaired properly, & they drive it, I'm always saying " IS THAT NORMAL?" & they reply yeah. Meanwhile I'm thinking, this 1991 Toyo Pickup SR5, has just had the ORIGINAL clutch replaced & it's 2008.

I don't like to see my friends get taken advantage of. Just because they don't know quality, doesn't give a manufacturer the right to, sell them on a what I would call, a pile of crap, but it sure looks pretty on the flat bed.

2005 Hummer H2

Summary:

The most comfortable vehicle I've driven!

Faults:

No Problems at all!

General Comments:

This is by far the most comfortable vehicle I've ever driven, including Escalades, Tahoe's, Coupe De Villes, MB G Wagons... You name it!

And the way people drive today, I have to take care of ME, So I feel the gas mileage 13.5 MPG is not bad at all as long as I am safe!! At least I'm buying American!!

So, the Hummer is the only way to feel safe?! What kind of terrains are you driving on, minefields?

Why don't you learn how to drive instead of buying an oversized vehicle to compensate for your lack of ability. I find a small good handling car with all wheel drive is much safer than any Hummer because I can avoid getting in accidents. With the Hummer you will just plow through anyone that gets in your way because it reacts too slowly to sudden maneuvers. Safe for you... but disasterous for them. It is sad that the mentality of so many people is to be selfish no matter what the cost may be to the other accident victim(s).
