I had to replace the transmission about three years ago. That cost around $1500.
I had to replace the valve guide seal two and a half years ago. It wouldn't quit smoking and that was really embarrassing.
This car is a speedy little thing if you are the right height to fit into it.
However the people who designed the interior should have made it all one color.

Watch out for this heap of trash!
This car was a nightmare from the start. Everything was breaking and going bad.
1) Transmission problems from the start.
2) Radiator busted.
3) Oil pan gasket went bad.
4) Head gasket blew.
5) Transmission seal blew.
6) Coil went bad.
7) CV joints went out twice.
8) Engine was well maintained, started smoking and clicking at 97,000 miles.
This car had to be a lemon, there is no way that they could have sold this car with this poor quality to everyone. My Yugo was a better car than this. I mean every month this car was having something happen with it, it was happening over and over again and I don't know how I kept it as long as I did to be honest. When I traded the thing in the Geo/Chevy dealership didn't even want to take the thing, I think I got 1000 for it if even that.

Did you buy the car new, if so, and the dealer was of no help, you should have gone to the Hyundai Corporation with your complaints. They are very good about standing behind their products. I think that your particular car was just a bad seed, and that happens, but all in all, it really is a great car.
